Mini Nesting Canister Set for Dollhouse Miniature Collector: The Destiny of Things, Story 279

Mini Nesting Canisters for Dollhouse Miniature Collector:  The Destiny of Things, Story 279

I just love my miniatures!  especially mini items that nest inside each other!

Most of my favorite miniatures have sold, but there are still a few of my very favorite nesting mini's still around at our Etsy shop, Hoarder Rehab in the yesteryear's toy box section, here

I bought these to put my own Day of the Dead Virgin of Guadalupe stickers on them, instead of the floral decals to use with my mini ofrenda mixed media loteria card collage art shadow box nichos, but once I found the canisters, I couldn't find the mini Virgin of Guadalupe stickers anymore!

This seems to happen to me a lot!  By the time I find some of the supplies for one of my art projects, some of the other supplies disappear!  And I was planning to put mini straw flowers from my childhood in the canisters as vases, but the dried flowers aren't so easy to find either!  And although I have found them, they are not for sale in mixed color bunches that I like!  Ho hum bummer!

Anyways, a kind Etsy buyer found a new life and home for my miniature kitchen canisters in her miniature dollhouse cabinet and let me know in a short note!

I am so happy they found a new life because I still have not been able to find mini Virgin Guadalupe stickers or mini dried straw flowers in mixed color small bunches!  So I am going to need to figure out an alternative plan to make a little ofrenda in the nichos or use something else to make my nichos more 3-d keepsake style with little momentos!

The Etsy buyer mentioned miniature cabinets and I love those too!  because I love filling them up with more miniatures!  As a child growing up when I couldn't decide on what I liked best  I usually bought a few to see which one worked out best for me.  Now I can see that some of my hoarding habits started out from a very young age.

I had three hutch cabinets for my dollhouse.  One in white, brown and green!

Oh my!  I see my hoard started as early as my childhood dollhouse miniatures!  And I had several tea sets, dish sets, pots and pans, eating utensils and home improvement tools to fill up the cabinets and drawers!  or to set the table for four!

I even had litle matching placemats that I had made, but I have no idea where they are now.

This wooden set of dishes fit perfectly in the white hutch cabinet.

More pots and pans that I had and just loved because they nested!  Only one nesting pot made it through time travel, but all the casserole pans did.  These bring back such memories because back in the 70s and 80s we ate a whole lot of yummy one dish casseroles,  my favorites being tuna with Campbell's mushroom soup and peas and a Mexican tortilla chicken casserole with lots of layers!

And I used to set my dollhouse table that also doubled as a desk for casserole dinner night!

Home improvement tools went in the bottom drawers of the cabinets as did the rest of the junk for my favorite drawers, the junk drawers, just like my childhood home in real life too!

Saying Goodbye:  I still love anything miniature, but I'm trying not to collect any of it anymore, however I still buy miniature kitsch plastic toy prizes once in awhile, so one day they'll most likely get listed on the my Etsy shops.

My childhood miniature collection was surprisingly difficult to let go, but now I think I'm over it.  Only time will tell.

My most prized favorite nesting dishes from childhood.
These went to a kind Etsy buyer who is now one of my best friends!
I am so happy these are now in good hands being used daily to display crystals!

What I Learned:

1.  I loved miniatures back then and I still love them now!  Just writing this post has fired up my love of miniatures!  So I'm thinking I need to some how fit them into my art projects! or cool down about collecting them again!

2.  I have had a lot of family stress lately and my insomnia and gluten allergic reaction hasn't helped my anxiety, so I'm going to need to remember to turn to my art projects and use what I already have to help destress and not add to my hoard.

3.  If I had the time to count up today, I'm sure I'd find that I hoarded almost anything that nested!  Off the top of my head, I know my mid century modern teak nesting canisters and nesting teak trays sold long ago, so I'm sure I had mixing bowls and who knows what else that nested!  Hmmm, my hoarding habits never cease to amaze me....  I had no idea nesting items were so alluring to me all my life til now!

Another set of nesting dishes.  I sent these later to my new friend from Etsy for her crystal display.

I reached my goal of listing 200 items in all four shops last week!  Yeah!!! Pat on the back, high fives and standing ovations with a round of applause!

So my new dehoarding goal is to list something new daily or weekly at each shop until I reach 205 at all four shops!

Click on the shop names to visit new hoard listed daily or weekly: HoarderRehab with 202 items, The Destiny of Things- 202 items , VintageToGoEasy - 199 items and now JunkDrawerAndMore - 204 items!  Maybe you'll find something to take home and share your story too!  Thanks for looking!

I do love anything that nests because it's such a space saver plus!

Hoarder Rehab Tip #6:  When you find out what motivates you, use it to your advantage often!

Yes!  I use what motivates me most easily and effortlessly to reach my goals!  And I use what works for me as much as I can as often as I can or all the time to keep moving forward! even if it sometimes feels like going backwards!  More about that another time....

Even though I don't like the idea that "rewards" are one of my best motivators, it works for me, so I use "rewards" all the time now and keep a list of rewards to choose from ranging from tangible and intangible rewards, easy short term to more difficult or expensive long term rewards, etc.

For me, it's better than no reward at all and doing nothing and getting no where and rewards has been one of the biggest ways to help me to dehoard, even if sometimes the reward is buying something I really think I want!  At least it's what I call, "purposeful" buying, rather than random easy retail therapy of whatever I find when I find it!

Next time I'll talk about my next Hoarder Rehab tip, "baby steps."  This is a "must do" for me!
