Spooky or cute?  My vote is cute!

Here is the email I received last March!

Just as pictured, thank you. Will save this Frozen Charlotte for my granddaughter Charlotte for Halloween this year. Thank you for listing it.

Not sure, if I could wait that long or remember to save it for Halloween, but I'm sure this Grandmother has!  Wish I could be a fly on the wall, when it's opened!

Saying Goodbye:  I used to have a lot of these plastic coffins and a collection of penny dolls or Frozen Charlotte dolls! Not sure which term is correct.  Seems appropriate for a Frozen Charlotte to end up in a coffin!

What I Learned:

1.  Having a difficult time in blogland again, still not used to how any of the new format works, see above caption to photos! and my computer has been acting up with several major keys that stick, like: e, o, h and n.  They have to be hit with great force to be seen.  Feels like piano exercises!  Going to get this done despite the trivial annoyances!

2.  I only have a couple of coffin boxes left.  I found them several years ago as candy boxes and have not been able to find anymore.  They hold most penny dolls quite well, along with beads and buttons!

3.  I took a somewhat of an Etsy vacation.  I kept all the shops open, but just did packaging and relisting and nothing else.  Instead I got to sleep in as late as I wanted, read all I wanted, caught up with a couple of shows and movies I wanted to binge watch and got all my Christmas shopping done.  I feel so much better, almost human and am ready to get back to Etsyland!

4.  These would also be good for November 1 for Day of the Dead or dia de muertos or All Souls Day, which is the celebration of ancestors.   The annual Mexican celebration, Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead), is a time when families gather to honor and remember deceased loved ones. It is believed that the souls of the dead return to visit the living families in homes, businesses and cemeteries.  This is a joyful festivity for families and the community and lasts from Nov 1 to Nov 2.

Are the coffin dolls cute or scary to you?  One buyer said she love hers because she took hers to work as a desk ornament and no one bothered here all day!  I think they cuteness overload for Halloween.  I love to spread the cotton webbing around the doll like shroud, while the doll looks on clutching her cute pet surrounded by spiders!  What a fun little vignette!

More coffin dolls with moveable arms.  I have since found more spiders and cotton webs in my hoard of hoards, so let me know if you want that included and I will for you!  Available here.  Photo via The Destiny of Things.

Thank you Etsy buyer for sharing your story and I would love to know how your granddaughter loved her coffin penny doll for Halloween!  I hope you are both happy and having a booeatiful All Hallow's Evening!

Maybe you'd prefer a cute rodeo girl with a red cowgirl hat!  Available here.  Photo via The Destiny of Things

As I said before, I've enjoyed my Etsy vacation, so I'm ready to start new listing again and to get ready for the winter holiday crowds this year!  I spent most of yesterday sorting cocktail animal and mermaids by color and by figurine, so I'm ready!

Sales are still holding at our old average, which is a nicer speed for me because I don't need to package up orders everyday to keep up with Mon, Wed and Fri shipments.  It should be interesting to see what the Thanksgiving to Christmas crowds will do this year!

Parties do seem to be down to about 30.  When we first started to sell cocktail drink toppers we would sell them in the 100s and beyond, but now we are lucky to get an order of 50.  Actually our largest orders for party favor type stuff is from 10-30, so the celebrations are smaller.  I hope everyone is keeping safe and well!

Click on the shop names to visit my hoard: HoarderRehab with 183 items, The Destiny of Things- 171 items, VintageToGoEasy - 160 items and JunkDrawerAndMore - 184 items.   And now, Mending Ways with 62 items!    Many of my textile art patches have found new "forever" homes. I need to make somany more.  I am immensely grateful, thank you all who are supporting my alternative to hoarding!

Maybe you'll find something and give it new life and a new home!  All pleasant lookieloos are appreciated!

PHOTO UPDATE: DIY First Loose Tooth Kit in Diamond Box: The Destiny of Things, Story 569

PHOTO UPDATE:  DIY First Loose Tooth Kit in Diamond Box:  The Destiny of Things, Story 569

All I want for Halloween is my two front teeth!  BEFORE:

This little loose tooth kit has glow in the dark beads and heart pony beads, so kids can not only keep their loose tooth safe til bedtime, but can also make a bead patterned necklace.  Good for fine motor skills.  First loose tooth kit available here.  Photo via JunkDrawerAndMore

I used these all the time in the classroom.  It's a great way to start off oral hygiene week in April and for teachers it's a much better way for students to safe keep their lost tooth until they get home.  Back to the story, here is someone totally focused on beading their first loose tooth necklace!

PLAYING and CREATING:  I love to see kids totally engrossed in what they are doing!

This little loose tooth kit arrives in a diamond shaped box or plastic gumball capsule and has glow in the dark beads and heart pony beads, so kids can not only keep their loose tooth safe til bedtime, but can also make a bead patterned necklace.  Good for fine motor skills.  First loose tooth kit available here.  Photo via JunkDrawerAndMore

What I Learned:

1.  We've sold a lot of these and not one person has told us the chain breaks easily, so I'm thankful this Etsy buyer did without giving a really low star reviews.   I could guess the necklace was not top quality since I could only find them off other necklaces from toy jewelry capsule machines.  Unfortunately, they are the only ones I could find that have a thin enough closure so beads can be beaded from either end of the necklace.  Now I send a plastic cord and the gold chain necklace, but the closures for those are probably to complicated for a young child because of the way the closure has to be knotted and the closure itself isn't common.  When I first saw them not on the necklace, I had no clue what they were!

I think after the last few gold chains I have sell, I will discontinue these because I'm also running out of glow in the dark and heart pony beads!  It'll be nice to move on to something else too!

2.  It's been hot and smoky the last couple of months due to the Cali fires and heat waves, but today is actually gloomy, cold and feels like rain.  I'm still doing Buns of Steel six days a week, early morning when the air quality seems to be better because I love to eat and I love not having to buy larger clothes.  I'd rather spend that money on antique textiles and Japanese boro!

Do you remember your first loose tooth falling out?  I don't remember mine, but I do remember tying dental floss to my tooth and then tying that to a doorknob and having my brother slam the door shut.  Just like in the cartoons!

Saying Goodbye:  Sad to say, but I'm looking forward to these selling out.  I know how much kids like these, but kits take time to make and putting it all together probably isn't the best use of my time!  I'd rather be creating and stitching these days!

Thank you Etsy buyer for letting me know that the gold chain necklaces don't last very long.  Very helpful to know that I can also send along one of the plastic cords, as seen in the top photo with a closure to be added on after the beading is done.  Most likely an adult will have to help with adding the closures.  I am thankful to hear that the rest of both of your experiences had happy endings!

I've listed like a crazy woman this entire week!  It felt good to have the time to do so, plus I had new listing photos ready to list from May!  JunkDrawerAndMore has 10 new listings!  VintageToGoEasy with 11 new listings!  Hoarder Rehab with 6 new listings!  The Destiny of Things with 7!  To do more catching up, I'll be listing more this weekend.

Sales are back to our old average, which is a nicer speed for me because I don't need to package up orders everyday to keep up with Mon, Wed and Fri shipments.  Instead had time to new list and do other Etsy chores!  I don't know if the Halloween crowd is coming or going and what is Halloween going to be like this year during the pandemic?  The kids around here still trick or treat around the neighborhood, but I guess this year is going to be very very quiet.  Maybe not, since everyone usually wears a mask any way, right?

many more.  I am immensely grateful, thank you all who are supporting my alternative to hoarding!

If you are like me and trying to get into Halloween or even autumn mode, since heat waves still exist in Cali, maybe these cute funny fun erasers will do the trick or treat!  Great alternative to candy and they fit inside a gumball plastic capsule for easy handing out!  Available here.
