What a fun email and new idea to add for themed parties using fortune teller fish:

My item came fast and I am excited to share them with the party goers at my sons 18th roll your own sushi party! I remember these from my childhood always so much fun! I will also be putting one in the thank you notes from his party!

I love how this person is planning on making new memories while it brings back some old ones!  And who doesn't like extra fish at a sushi party!  And one that will tell your fortune too!

These can be set individually added on each serving plate to be played with until dinner arrives.  Fun way to keep guests occupied while waiting to be served or added to a party favor bag for later.  And if one forgets to use them for the party or just wants a reminder of extra fishy fun memories for the guests, add them to your thank you notes!

Easy simple fun, just take the fortune teller fish out of the bag and place it in the palm of your hand and see what it does!  Available here

Saying Goodbye:  I used these all the time in the classroom when I was teaching third grade, as an introduction to magic, which was really teaching science and math.  Every student got one and used the scientific process to figure out how they actually worked!

What I Learned:

1.  I am so thankful that some of my old teaching hoard has become one of our top sellers, which I call rehoard because now we just list them for fun and anyone can enjoy them for all kinds of different themed parties, like weddings for love, simple magic party favors, nautical, beach, pirate, mermaid, fisherman, fortune telling and now sushi parties!

2.  All my left side pain from bursitis and sciatica are now gone!  I've been doing digestion yoga for years now by just following these pictures, here, they help my bursitis and sciatica as well.  The best exercises I found for my bursitis is here, especially the scapular setting one.

To best use the scapular setting one, I hold my arms in front of me with my elbows bent at 90 degree angle, palms facing away from me to keep my arms in place until I learned how to move only my scapulars in the three motions used.  For me, this helps with the sharp pain I used to get that feels like it's under and behind my scapular.

The best thing for my sciatica is mediation and I use Ajahn Brahm's guided meditation for pain here.  He has many on how to deal with pain, so you can do a search on the site and also, I started off with the introductory meditations which are only a half hour.  I lay down for all my meditations.  Sometimes I can sit in a car and sometimes I can't, still trying to figure that one out.

Now the best exercise I've found for keeping my sciatica and bursitis in check besides the daily digestive yoga is an exercise I found called the thoracic bridge shown in Max Shank's youtube video, here and I do it much slower and much more carefully than he does, lol.  Thank you Max Shank!  I can do two sets now!  I instantly feel better every time I use the thoracic bridge, but I do them very slowly and carefully.

What is your favorite exercise for your overall health?  I hope to get back to jump roping and then perhaps Aikido or Judo lessons.

Thank you Etsy buyer from VintageToGoEasy for letting me know another way to use these for a sushi themed party!  I really appreciate the inspiration!  Thank you!  And Happy 18th Birthday to your son!  with many more!

My purge pile is growing.  I seem to add something every week, which is good for me because before I had to keep everything.  This weekend is King Tut or watching FIFA World Cup, so hopefully I'll have a substantial pile to donate by the weekend of end of June!  I hope I remember to take a photo of my hoard pile.

I'm not a big fan of watching sports, but I do love all the eating!  I think watching the last five minutes of any sport is the way to go!  And have all the snacks first!  If we do watch soccer than I'll be new listing while the games are going on in between all the yummy foods!

Everyday is such an adventure dehoarding on Etsy!   I never know who I'll meet and I have met so many Etsy buyers who share their stories with me and every time I glean some insight about where my dehoarding journey is taking me.

We are having an Etsy sale that Etsy is promoting this weekend, but ours will last a week longer.  Everything is on sale at all four shops.  Come see and buy!

Thank you Etsy for the best Hoarder Rehab ever!  And for all the kind people I'm meeting who are helping me indirectly and directly in so many ways with my Hoarder Rehab!

Another shout out birthday to Etsy!  Happy 13th Birthday Etsy!  I wish you many more!  Thank you for everything you've done to help me let go of all my hoard!  I couldn't have done it without you!

I've changed all the holiday categories to Independence Day and all the jewelry is back to their more specific listings on all the shops.  It took way too much time, so next time I think I'll put the holiday that Etsy doesn't provide in the tag listings.

My goal is still to list 170 items per shop, which I've been working on at least 1-2 times a week.  It looks like I have a lot of listing to catch up on!

Despite the Etsy Birthday promotional, sales are down, but that's okay because there is more time to do other things, like narrow down my crafting options because I have way too much craft supplies. I think I'm going to start listing my washi tape because now I have made so many paper quilts, I'm not sure what to do with them all, except to start using them as postcards.

We have joined the Etsy sale that starts on June 18, but we'll start our sale one week earlier and one week after.  Also, next month, mid July, Etsy is raising their fees across the board, except for the listing fee.  So I might be adding a dollar or more to each listing to cover the new fees.

Click on the shop names to visit new hoard listed daily and/or weekly: HoarderRehab with 164 items, The Destiny of Things- 163 items, VintageToGoEasy - 168 items and JunkDrawerAndMore - 169 items.

Maybe you'll find something and give it new life and a new home!  Thanks for looking!

Here is a Red Ball fish, it still has it's sticker on the bottom of it and would make a cute cupcake topper for the guest of honor at your next sushi party, available here

Russel Wright Carnation Ice Cream Parlor Sterling China Plate Disneyland: The Destiny of Things, Story 510

Russel Wright Carnation Ice Cream Parlor Sterling China Plate Disneyland:  The Destiny of Things, Story 510

Many Etsy buyers help make my Hoarder Rehab so fun and funny!

We have the 9 inch dinner plates and the smaller 7.5 inch plates, available here
photo via VintageToGoEasy

Oh no, some of the emails have seemed to disappeared, so here's what's left!  Too bad because his were so funny!

Hooray!

My plate just arrived and I love it even more than I expected I would!!! I like these old plates, because they are not huge. Just right for lunch (for one, haha.) maybe a deviled egg sandwich with a side of cottage cheese and some canned pineapple. Does that sound 1950s enough? :)

I will for sure be in touch for another plate, and hopefully it won’t take me four more years to do it. I’ll need one more dinner and salad plate eventually. I have cups/saucers, and they are my favorite for hot chocolate. ;)

Thank you for the goodies. I’ll ask my fortune teller fish, when I’ll get my paper plates replacements!

Can’t wait!

Virtual Hug,
Etsy buyer

In the first email, which has now disappeared, it said the Carnation plate was going to a "forever" house!  I really like that and as a recovering hoarder, it made me feel so much better!  It was also mentioned that paper plates would have to intervene until the next plate purchase!  So funny!

I used to have quite a set of these, but I'm letting them all go, available here

I wrote back:

Yipee!!!

Haha! We use the smaller plates too! We call them our fake out dieting plates! Love your 50s lunch. So happy to hear you have a growing set of them. What did your fortune fish tell you?

Hope to you see you back soon with a virtual hug!
Kennedy

PS. Thanks for making my morning so much brighter!

This is the fortune fish we pass out with orders, available here

The next email:

Fishy said:

“There will be many more Russel Wright carnation pieces in your future, my child.”

Hope he’s right. (“Wright”!)

Hahah!  Yes and the fortune fish is always right, Wright!

The next email:

Fishy said:

Hope he’s right. (“Wright”!)

Hahah!  Yes and the fortune fish is always right, Wright!

and the last email:

Yes, of course you can use my story. I'm not sure it's much of a story, though. (Guy buys plate. Guy eats off plate. Guy takes nap.)

But if you end up selling the movie rights, I expect a very generous percentage of profits. (Or some plates!)

This is Russel Wright's Sterling China with Carnations on it, which were used in the original Carnation Ice cream Parlor at Disneyland on Main Street, back in the 50s.  It has since reopened, but I don't think they use these plates anymore.  I don't know if these plates were ever used there, but I can always dream!   Available here

Saying Goodbye:  Back in the day, my brother collected Russel Wright's Iroquois and didn't want these after I had already purchased them, so I used them as Sunday breakfast dishes and then off and on, anytime I moved and found them in my hoard.

What I Learned:

1.  I never know what's I'm going to find in my hoard!  In the sense, that it's going to make someone extremely happy!  And I am thankful that tons of my hoard has made people extremely happy!  And I have a ton more to let go!

2.  I'm not sure what happened to my Russel Wright collection, it wasn't as large as my brother's, but I had small strawberry pink espresso cups with saucers, a gray clock, some stainless steel tea accessories and candle holders that looked like flowers.  The flower candle holders didn't look like anything of his style, but they had his recognizable signature on the bottom of both of them!  How I can remember that I have no clue.  I have such a selective memory.

3.  Another Etsy buyer verified that theses types of Russel Wright Carnation plates were indeed used in the Carnation Ice cream Parlor at Disneyland from back in the day, you can read the story here.

4.  My left side tension muscle nerve issues have subsided quite a bit and I'm feeling much better now.  I think the 5 day liver detox with mainly vegetarian or raw meals on Mon and Fri and juice fasting T-Th helped me a lot, especially my energy levels.  I'm still waking up at 3 am, so I'm grateful that I've been getting more done and having to take less naps.  I think I'm sleeping better too through the night and don't have to get up to eat a snack or go to the bathroom a lot.

I have two 9.0 inch dinner plates left, but one has a manufacturing flaw, which is the one marked with the number 2, available here

Thank you Etsy buyer from Hoarder Rehab for taking the time to send me a banter of funny and entertaining emails! Thank you for making my Hoarder Rehab so much more fun!  I hope you are having many classic 1950s meals on the plates and then taking a nap!

One of my favorite things to do is nothing and then rest, lol.  What is one of your favorite past times?

My purge pile is growing, this weekend is busy, next weekend is King Tut, so hopefully I'll have a substantial pile to donate by the weekend of end of June!  I hope I remember to take a photo.

My experiment of changing all the jewelry to the general category of jewelry so I could use all the holidays seemed to work for Mother's day, but not so well for Father's day.  Now I'm still changing everything to Independence day, which I'm changing all the jewelry back to it's more specific categories because Etsy has Independence Day as one of their holidays.  Very interesting how they have Independence Day as holiday in their specific category, but not Mother's or Father's day.  I wonder what happened there.

For example, under the jewelry category, if I use the more specific categories, like stacking rings, the only holidays to choose from that were upcoming were either Cinco de Mayo or Independence day.  If I wanted to use Mother's day for a holiday, I had to use the most general category of just "jewelry."

Thank you Etsy for the best Hoarder Rehab ever!  And for all the kind people I'm meeting who are helping me indirectly and directly in so many ways with my Hoarder Rehab!

Sales were up and down, but mostly up now and seem to even out.  We ship out on Mon, Wed and Fri and lately one day is low on sales, one hits our average and one sky rockets!  t We'll be joining the Etsy sale that starts on June 18, but we'll start our sale one week earlier and one week after..

These made a Vernon ware collector happy and just think his collection of vintage items got so big he turned them into a museum of  Museum of California Design!

DIY Ballerina Jewelry Box Gift: The Destiny of Things, Story 509

DIY Ballerina Jewelry Box Gift:  The Destiny of Things, Story 509

Someone is in for a great surprise this month for their anniversary!  BEFORE:

He ordered the pink ballerina for his creation.  More pink and/or yellow ballerinas, available here

Here is the note and updated photos I received:

Hmmm... I can't seem to find that email, but he told me he was using the ballerina to make an anniversary gift for his wife to hold her jewelry.

Jewelry box in progress!

Here is what I wrote back:

Wow, What an amazing transformation!  and so thankful to be a tiny part of it!  Your wife is going to love it!  Congratulations and best wishes on your anniversary!

I'll use your story and transformation images on my blog and leave you anonymous.  Thank you for making my day and making my Hoarder Rehab that much more enjoyable!

Kindest regards,
Kennedy

AFTER Photo of ballerina!

I just love this!  It looks like a surfing ballerina to me!  I wonder if that's possible, a surfing ballerina dancing on her toes, like Hang Ten!
Photo via creative and kind Etsy buyer from JunkDrawerAndMore

The jewelry box has built in little compartments for rings and such and little hanger for necklaces and  bracelets!  So cool!  If I wore jewelry, I'd want one of these for my jewelry box!  I used to use a Japanese sewing box called a Haribako and a small musical Reuge as my jewelry boxes, both were from my mom and dad.

Now the Haribako box holds all my Etsy supplies for packaging and my Reuge jewelry box holds all my childhood jewelry that I still can not part with yet, like my jade pieces, gold and silver charm bracelets, my magical Zuni Sun God pendant and favorite lucky hopscotch chain bracelet, lol

Speaking of musical jewelry boxes, I wonder if this is one too.  Is it built in?  because it looks like the ballerina might twirl!  So curious!

Pink and/or yellow ballerinas, available here
The green hand painted one is sold out, but there is one in red at our other shop below.

Saying Goodbye:  These will be the last ballerinas we will stock because that's all that is left in my hoard of hoards, unless I find some more in a few boxes that are I haven't looked through yet.  However, I am ready to donate the rest of my hoard because I think I'm ready to purge and not look back this time.

I used to purge about every decade and found I just accumulated all the stuff back again, even worse than before, but this time I think I can purge without rebounding.

Hand painted in red or DIY yellow, available here

What I Learned:

1.  This week we are doing Dr. Schultz's 5 day Liver Flush and it appears my childhood injuries and mumps are still detoxing, so my collar bone and jaw area, shoulder bursitis and elbow feel tight and need a lot of massaging.  It is getting less and less as each day goes by.  My sciatica has found relief as long as I do yoga daily.  Hopefully it will all heal soon.

2.  I'm still waking up at around 3 am and I'm sleeping much better these days.  I fall asleep around 9 or 10 pm without any problems now.  I've been reading Tanya Zavasta's Quantum Eating, not for the beauty or longevity, but I won't complain if it helps me, but for sleep, my cold feet, breathing techniques, and fasting and other health information.  She backs up her information with research that's been done and tries to demystify being a raw vegan for health, which she is the best example of and points out that a lot of the research is for people who eat cooked foods.

Anyways, one of her suggestions is to stay awake for 24 hours to reset your sleeping body clock.  I haven't tried it yet, since waking up at 3 am seems to be working for me.  So far I love her book and honesty.

3.  The last couple of days I've been feeling great when I wake up at 3 am, but if I need to sleep more, I just listen to my body and do sleep in, usually until 5 or 6.

What have you been doing for your self care lately?  I've been trying to establish a healthier routine now that I'm sleeping better and focus on my new interests more.

I call these the Village People!  I have their matching dancing female mates too.
I have a ton of these in pink, yellow and some hand painted.  I think I'll start listing them all.
These 6 Village People in pink are listed here
photo via JunkDrawerAndMore

Thank you Etsy buyer from JunkDrawerAndMore for taking the time to send me your email story and before and after photos with progress photos too.  Thank you for making my Hoarder Rehab so much more fun!  I just love to see all the creative endeavors Etsy buyers make with my hoard!  Thank you for sharing!

I can see the problem I might be having by purging.  If I purge, I think I'll have to get over my FOMO, fear of missing out, like who knows what treasures I might be throwing out.  I'll start over thinking about it all!  I decided to list my clothes instead of donate them until I get tired of it.  I keep thinking I'll upcycle some of them, but I can barely keep up with mending my favorite clothes.

Everyday is such an adventure dehoarding on Etsy!   I never know who I'll meet and I have met so many Etsy buyers who share their stories with me and every time I glean some insight about where my dehoarding journey is taking me.

My experiment of changing all the jewelry to the general category of jewelry so I could use all the holidays seemed to work for Mother's day, but not so well for Father's day.  Now I'm changing everything to Independence day, which I'm changing all the jewelry back to it's more specific categories because Etsy has Independence Day as one of their holidays.  Very interesting how they have Independence Day as holiday in their specific category, but not Mother's or Father's day.  I wonder what happened there.

Thank you Etsy for the best Hoarder Rehab ever!  And for all the kind people I'm meeting who are helping me indirectly and directly in so many ways with my Hoarder Rehab!

I was listing these in singles and pairs, but only the ballerinas are selling, so I will be listing these clowns in a group with others, hopefully next week.

It took a lot of time to change the holiday categories for each listing on all the shops and the jewelry categories back to general jewelry and now I'm changing all jewelry back to the more specific categories and changing the holiday to the next one.  My goal is still to list 170 items per shop!  It looks like I have a lot of listing to catch up on!

Sales were up and down, but mostly down now, but that's okay, it'll give me time to list new things so I can make my goal of 170 items per shop and write more blog posts!  We'll be joining the Etsy sale that starts on June 18, but we'll start our sale earlier.
