Little Gifts to Support Childhood Cancer: The Destiny of Things, Story 479

Little Gifts to Support Childhood Cancer:  The Destiny of Things, Story 479

I am so thankful these are going to someone who helps children who are fighting cancer.

Here is her heartfelt story:

I just picked up my package from the post office today and I absolutely love it!!! What I thought was the best thing in this entire order is your hand written letter!! It's funny how a simple act can mean so much to someone else lol so my story with what I'm going to be doing with these is im filling them up with little gifts and sending these all over the world for children who are fighting cancer. My services to these kids and their families are 100% free I just want to make them smile that is my reward. I also buy s lot of stuff to make jewelry on this app and I make necklaces and donate them to families for fundraisers. Again my services are 100% free all I ask in return is to see some smiles. I know it's sounds silly to a lot of people but I can not cure cancer or other illness but i can make an impact in many lives

I just love this story and all the things she is doing to help children around the world smile by making their lives a little brighter in her own ways!  I especially love here last sentence, "I can not cure cancer or other illness but i can make an impact in many lives" it has me pondering on how I can better help others too.

I'd love to see the little gifts she puts inside each capsule!

Saying Goodbye:  I have my own of these collected and stashed away like a squirrel!  I was looking for something else the other day and found these stashed away in boxes and jars, so now I'm trying to keep them all in one place.  I don't know why, but I've been collected them in every color I come across.

What I Learned:

1.  I've been saving my own stash of these in "hard to find" colors for one of my own art projects called, "Childhood Dreams" and all my favorite childhood things, most jewelry, trinkets and toys that I can not part with fit in these capsules and my gum ball machine.  At least that's my current plan.

2.  Since my "house" hoard is at least half way gone and I'm now dehoarding my truck, I can see the end in sight!  And now with this inspirational story of supporting childhood cancer, I am going to consider doing something like this too and hopefully with this in mind I will find a new path soon.

3.  I would love to just make a difference in other's lives with or without a smile from them.  I have some issues to work through before I can do this whole heartedly, but I am willing to work through my childhood issues to get there.

If you need smaller amounts or certain colors, please browse our Etsy shops!
10 or 20+ ALL PASTEL empty gum ball vending machine bubble capsules retro wedding exit birthday new baby party favor container, available here.

4.  I use these weekly, mainly for shipping jewelry or small porcelain figurines, they are quite sturdy and items arrive safely and look "oh so cute."  They are also good for holding samples, like beads and bath bombs with surprises inside them that float to the top after they fizz out.

Other ideas are a fun way to give monetary gifts, tooth fairy gifts of coins or bills, great pinata fillers with small erasers, candy and/or money in them, cupcake toppers with different kinds sprinkles inside them that guests can pick and choose, especially if they have certain food restrictions.

Etsy buyers have turned them into fairy lights, fairy flower lights and more!

What will you fill yours with?  Below is an example of a rabbit figurine all ready to ship out safely in the larger sized capsules!

Thank you Etsy buyer from JunkDrawerAndMore for all your inspiration!  I'd love to see your little gifts in the gumball capsules one day and get some ideas from them!  Thank you for making my day! From now on, I will be thinking about how to help others in my own way, like you do.  Thank you so much for appreciating my note and saying so!

Maybe I can start donating my hoard too!

You can read more about her on her facebook page:  if you would like to add me on Facebook my name is Ashley Leather-Buck it has a picture of my face with a border that says I support childhood cancer. I try and donate as much as I can I also make jewelry so this website has truly helped with that! I have found some necklace charms that these kids can relate to. The only thing I ask for in return is to see a picture of their child smiling.

Right now the foundation that I volunteer in we are trying to get bills passed to raise the childhood cancer research to more than 4% funding, id like to see in my lifetime pediatric cancer research get 50% research funding. I believe there is a cure out there but when the scientists don’t have the money for research they hit a dead end.

I would love for you to add me on Facebook so you can see the faces of these kids, but I must warn you some stories are very sad. I try to not post the sad but unfortunately the sad is what gets the medias attention. Thank you again!

Everyday is such an adventure dehoarding on Etsy!  I never know who I'll meet and I have met so many Etsy buyers who share their stories with me and every time I glean some insight about where my dehoarding journey is taking me.

Thank you Etsy for the best Hoarder Rehab ever!  And for all the kind people I'm meeting who are helping me indirectly and directly in so many ways with my Hoarder Rehab!  I've been gleaning so much insight about my hoarding ways.

Vintage Plastic Pistol Gun Rodeo Rockabilly Charms: The Destiny of Things, Story 478

Vintage Plastic Pistol Gun Rodeo Rockabilly Charms:  The Destiny of Things, Story 478

An Etsy shop owner has upcycled these into beauties!  BEFORE:

Here is the note I received:

Combined and fast shipping, great communication, a great place to buy cool stuff! Beautiful little pieces, so excited to upcycle them! Thank you!

And my favorite part is that they will be upcycled!  I just love it when someone brings new life to my hoard!

AFTER:  There are so many colors to choose from in her shop, but after some debate these are my favs!

Red Vintage Plastic Gun Pistols, available here

Visit her Etsy shop, moseyroseglass here and check out her entire shop of handmade jewelry and dioramas!  I just love her tiny dioramas too!  They are very interesting and detailed.  I found something new when I look at them all the time!

This photo shows all the different gun colors available here, which I'm sure moseyroseglass has too, in case you need a color that suits you just right for her to make you a custom order!

Saying Goodbye:  Even though a lot of these have sold, I still have a ton of them!  I was going to put them around some rockabilly bandannas, but never did.

What I Learned:

1.  I have a lot of projects rolling around in my head and I don't seem to be getting them done.  I was going to do a ying yang project from my days teaching in South Central, Los Angeles relating to gangs, which may be I will because at the moment I'm inspired to upcycle too!

2.  It seems I'd rather collect some of the supplies, instead of all of them to complete a project, so maybe this time I'll follow through.  Only time will tell.

3.  We've had some important events happen around here and since it's been too hot to cook, we went to one of the restaurants that used to be mostly organic with some gluten free items to celebrate, but I guess they aren't mostly organic anymore, so even though I avoided the gluten, I just don't feel well. It was delicious, but not worth it a few hours afterwards or today.

I will keep searching and trying organic gluten free restaurants to better take care of myself until I heal my body from allergies! or at least some of the allergies, which seems to be from a low immune system.

Since I've realized that my Hoarder Rehab is connected to my health.  It's so much easier to let go of things when I've gotten sleep without insomnia looming around and when I'm not having allergic reactions.  I must stay on my healing path with as much enthusiasm as I can muster!

This is one of my many favorite dioramas by moseyroseglass.  It's one of the simpler ones, but I just love the title and movable parts!  Plastic fawn watching girl, available here.  Not only do the tiny gold stars move around inside, but one can open the pendant and add your own things to make it even more meaningful!  Photo via moseyroseglass

Thank you fun and kind Etsy shop owner from moseyroseglass for all your help with my Hoarder Rehab!  Your inspiring upcycling jewelry and art dioramas have motivated me to go get some bandannas and finish a project that has been rolling around in my head for decades!!!  Thank you so much!

Again, check out her shop, moseyroseglass, I just love all her gun earrings, all her other jewelry and dioramas, especially the ones with the little people in it and their titles.  Good thing I'm not hoarding anymore because I just love all the tiny people she's found and put into her art, like this one here, here and here!

Speaking of guns!  One of our most popular items, these James Bond gold guns will be back in stock either this week or next week, but we have one set in gold, still available here and 3 sets in silver.  Photo via JunkDrawerAndMore

Miffy Inspiration to Motivation: The Destiny of Things, Story 477

Miffy Inspiration to Motivation:  The Destiny of Things, Story 477

I didn't get a story, but I received an inspirational email just in time!

The Etsy buyer has the clover one now!
I've been collecting Miffy and Sanrio items, since childhood.  My favorite being stationery!
More Miffy memo pads, available here

Since my insomnia has been back for over a month now and last week, I accidentally got glutened, I haven't exactly been myself lately.  I was starting to feel sorry for myself and my hoard, until I got this email from an Etsy buyer!

Here it is!

Hi! I received my order yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to find a handwritten note from you. Your story is remarkable. You have amazing strength and determination. Some days will naturally be easy going but some days you will find your focus and determination swaying. Never let that happen. You are on a path of healing. Thumbs up to you! You are an inspiration

I just love how every page has a bunny on it!
More Miffy memo pads, available here
photo via JunkDrawerAndMore

Here is what I wrote back:

Good morning!

Thank you for making my morning! How did you know I needed a welcome pep talk? The last couple of weeks my determination and strength were slowly swaying and not into a good direction! but your email has lifted me up with the reminder to stay on the path of healing!

I hope you know how much your email means to me!
Kennedy

PS. Can I use your email on my Hoarder Rehab and The Destiny of Things blog as a reminder to remain on my path of healing? I will leave you anonymous.

and she wrote back:

Hi Kennedy, you certainly can use my email. I was so happy to hear my email to you lifted your spirits. You are an inspiration, never forget that. Stay on your path of healing. You are doing amazing things.

I have a difficult time letting go of my Miffy and Sanrio stuff!
More Miffy memo pads, available here
photo via JunkDrawerAndMore

Saying Goodbye:  Not so easy, but able.  I don't even use memo pads anymore, but some day in the back of my mind, I think I might!  And I'd want to use one of these!  Solution:  if I do, I'll just buy "ONE" Miffy pad.

What I Learned:

1.  I need to do some digging as to why it's so difficult for me to let go of my Miffy and Sanrio collection.  I think it might be because I don't think I'll ever see my vintage Sanrio again, but on the other hand, since I know I'll most likely never see my vintage Sanrio again, especially my stationery, I never use it anymore.  That just leaves me stuck and not moving forward!

2.  I think it might just be that I'm tired from the insomnia and gluten makes me foggy headed and gives me stomach aches with digestion problems for about a week, so maybe it's just the combination of those two things because I love my Chococat stuff and I didn't feel uneasy about letting most of my Chococat collection go!

I think to keep my health my #1 priority!  and start reading food ingredients more diligently.  The organic white corn tortillas we bought had wheat listed in the ingredients, but not on the front labeling!

3.  I think I'll take photos of my vintage Sanrio collection because doing that with my Penny doll collection helped me to start letting them go.  I think because I could see the collection all at once and realize there is no way I'd ever use all those dolls in my mixed media art.  Most likely I'll come to the same realization with my Sanrio stationery.

4.  Now I just have to find it and dig it out!  I wonder what other things I'll find....

Thank you fun and kind Etsy buyer from JunkDrawerAndMore!  Your inspiring email motivated me to pull myself out of the dumps and move forward and stay on my healing path with enthusiasm!  My hoarder rehab is connected to my health.  The better my health, the easier it is for me to let go of things!  Thank you so much!

The Goblin Voyage 2017 in AU: The Destiny of Things, Story 476

The Goblin Voyage 2017 in AU:  The Destiny of Things, Story 476

Don't miss the boat!  Get your tickets now!  Dress up for hours of magic in Australia this August!

Here is the fun email story I received from Mr. Daniel Kraggs!

So we are an event company that started in the 90s doing Masquerades based on the movie Labyrinth. Back then we had approval to use the brand but fast forward to 2012 when I returned to Australia from Canada and we didn’t have the rights anymore.

So I created an event called “The Goblin Ball”.The Goblin Ball took fairy tales and fantasy to new heights of immersed events. Guests come as characters of their creating and complete quests in a luxurious ballroom decorated with sets, props and characters who help create an evening of magic, while Burlesque and circus performers dazzle. These tickets were around $130 each.

This year we embark on a Boat Party (for $35) where people can dance the night away with Psychics who will read palms and provide fortunes - this is where your tickets come into play. They will be handed some amazing vintage tickets (in the past we have even handed out Vintage Mardi Gras coins from New Orleans circa 1970 for our Bayou Party!)

Thank you for listing this item, it will help create the magic!

You can learn more about our event and past events at www.TheGoblinBall.com <http://www.thegoblinball.com/>

This has taken a LOT of work off my hands.

Thank you for the Magic

Daniel KnaggsEvent Producer and Writer

These are going to be passed out as a little party souvenir favor!

Here is what I wrote back:

Hi Daniel!

Wow! What a great story! I love it! Your "Goblin Ball" and "Boat Party" sound very exciting and fun! I think your "Boat Party" has excellent timing, especially if anyone has been watching, "Leftovers." They had a crazy boat party that ends in Melbourne with a Frasier the Lion theme, did you see that episode?

Anyways, I hope I can use your story on my Hoarder Rehab and The Destiny of Things blog, I can either leave you anonymous or link your event on it. Actually, I'd just use your email as it is, if that's fine by you. I'd like to use your story this Friday. I am not a writer, like you, but my blog has definitely turned my life around as a recovering hoarder!

I checked out your link and your events sounds so creatively fun and I thought your FAQ answers very funny and clever!

I am so thankful that the fortunes will be used in a such a fascinating and unique way all the way in AU! And happy to hear that I could make your work easier and best of all add some magic!

Kindest regards,
Kennedy

Sounds like a very fun organized voyage!  That includes fortune telling and magic!  Also such fun dress up where anything goes from casual to elaborate costumes!  Food and drinks that include gf and veggie pizza!  Even I could go with all my allergies!  Trinket sharing and more!  Read all about it and order tickets at the site, here

Saying Goodbye:  I have my own complete collection of these that are like a deck of cards.  Some of the aces, I know that ace of hearts for sure have 2-3 different fortunes, but I think the rest are all the same ones.  I just love these and remind me of my college days when my brother and I used to eat at a diner that had these in their Swami napkin dispenser for a penny!

Here is what a complete set of 52 collected looks like, available here

What I Learned:

1.  The Goblin Voyage 2017 sounds so fun.  I would love to have my fortune told and to mingle with everyone and get inspired by all the magical creative people, fantasy costumes and intriguing decor! And of course, I'd want to be a fly on the wall and see how the fortune teller cards will be used or traded, etc.

Each Goblin Ball event has a theme, but in the FAQ, I think anything goes!

2.   As a recovering hoarder, if I'm given too many choices, it'll take me a long time to decide because I'll just want to use them all.  For example, Moe the photographer sent me so many lovely and exciting photos that I was just overwhelmed at which ones to finally use!

That goes with any kind of shopping too!  Too many choices and all of it ends up in my cart!  Every color choice and every shape and size too!  Can't decide?  Get them all is my motto!  I can't do that anymore, so for example, with clothes I have to choose a color theme and just stick to those colors, otherwise I'll have a rainbow closet and I'll stare in it all day trying to decide what to wear!

Scary cool!

3.  My head cold is finally gone, but it seems insomnia has taken it's place, so I'm back to drinking coffee just to stay up and I'm back to minimal exercise.  (So my big plans for my new exercise program is on hold) I've lived with insomnia since childhood, but after a few years of sleeping well, I just don't know how I functioned because now I have such a difficult time with lack of sleep!

Without sleep my will powers goes down and my window shopping goes up!  At least I haven't bought a single thing.... yet.... but my fingers are itching and some extra mula is burning a hole in my pockets!

This is my favorite costume because she reminds me of the Queen of Hearts!

Thank you fun and kind Etsy buyer, Mr. Daniel Knaggs from The Goblin Voyage 2017, here and Moe Berjaoui of FOTOGENIQUE!  You both brought me some good insight towards my hoarding ways and how to keep unraveling my mystery to help break my chains!

What I find most interesting about the Goblin Ball events?  The Goblin Ball family is a group of artists and enthusiasts who volunteer time, money and talents so we can bring these magical events to Melbourne. We invests all funds raised into future events. We are essentially a group who is working for passion and not profit.  Read more here.

How cool is that!  Passion and not profit!  And my other favorite part are the answers to the FAQ here!

My favorite part in Moe's bio, "Fotogenique will happily translate your special moments through its lenses for you to treasure eternally."  Read more of his bio here and see a beautiful sampling of him translating throughthis lens!

Everyday is an adventure dehoarding on Etsy!  I never know who I'll meet and I have met so many Etsy buyers who share their stories with me and every time I glean some thing new about where my dehoarding journey is taking me.

Thank you Etsy for the best Hoarder Rehab ever!  And for all the kind people I'm meeting who are helping me indirectly and directly in so many ways with my Hoarder Rehab!  I've been gleaning so much insight about my hoarding ways.

What would your costume for the Goblin Voyage 2017 look like?  I think I'd go as "The Portrait of Madame X," as seen on wikipedia here by John Singer Sargent.

Psychics and mediums, which one would you choose?

I've slowed down, but I've been relisting daily and will be new listing again until I reach my goal of 180+ items at all the shops! I had reached my goal last week at all 4 shops, but thankfully several things have sold!

Anyone out there have any suggestion or ideas on how to use the new Etsy format and new Etsy Studio to their shop's best advantage?  and if it has helped bump up your sales?
