Bell Garland and Mini Jewelry Bell Charms: The Destiny of Things, Story 290

Bell Garland and Mini Jewelry Bell Charms:  The Destiny of Things, Story 290

I love bells and have/had quite the collection!

100 fun mini bells, some jingle, some don't, available here

It's not easy finding inexpensive mini bells and by the time I found some, well, I kinda hoarded them!  Also by the time I found some, I had forgotten about how I was going to use them.

Now I use them in my hanging origami crane projects, so they can jingle in the wind, like a mobile.  I've been making these cranes since childhood, taught them as part of geometry lessons in the classroom and now I mainly make them to keep my hands busy during suspenseful movies.

I use these for all different occasions in many different ways.  They make great DIY garlands by just threading through some string.  Hang from a tree branch for an instant mobile.  I also give them away in some special "thank you" packaging or use them as an embellishment for gift wrapping.  I also use them in my mixed media art, photo props and as an accent to brighten up a bonsai or little corner.

I like to use a lot of recycled materials or plain paper for wrapping gifts,  like tissue paper, doilies, white scrap paper, newspaper, brown crumpled shipping stuffer paper and dress them up with the hanging origami cranes and my abstract "love" cards.

Everyone loves a gift that jingles!

Speaking of garlands, an Etsy buyer purchased a different one of my bell garlands and said it was "magical!"

Their exact words being, "Lovely magical string of jingle bells, very shiny and sweet."

Garland of "magical" jingle bells:  SOLD OUT

At one time, these were the smallest bells I could find, they were too big, but I used them for a project anyway.  The gold acorn tops pop right off and came in the colors I wanted for a long gone Christmas project.  Of course, it's better to have too many than not enough for any project!  So I let these go at JunkDrawerAndMore.

It's kinda of odd and interesting how an item will sit at one of my shops unnoticed and then all of a sudden, a bunch of people take notice and make custom requests.  For instance, this garland sat around for at least one renewal with little activity and then "boom," someone requested a custom order of 4 of them and shortly after someone else wanted them in all one color and then all of a sudden they were purchased.

I am so thankful they were ordered by someone who loves their string of magical jingle bells!  I hope they adorn their mantel during the winter holiday season each year.

Coke bottles, available here

Hmmm... I sure got side tracked, where was I?  Custom requests.....so another Etsy buyer and Etsy shop seller requested these in all one size.  The smallest sized bells that don't make any noise of about 10mm tall with bale and 5mm wide and are perfect for earrings, so they don't drive anyone batty with jingling.

And guess what?  Mandy purchased them to make earrings!

They do have a metal piece inside them to make them jingle, but I guess it's so small to move around enough to jingle.  I opened one just to see inside it and I could get the larger bells open and closed easily without damaging them to take the metal piece inside out, but it's a lot of work.

It does take a lot of movement to make them jingle too, but the small ones don't jingle one bit!

Here is Mandy's beautifully handmade earrings with bells!

I think all her bell earrings have SOLD OUT
but these are just as beautiful and in the same style, available here

Mandy is very nice and friendly, so I'm sure she takes custom requests.  Her handmade jewelry is indeed unique and fun, so check out her shop, by clicking on uniQue2ChicCesigns.

Here is another example of her unique bell earrings!  So simple, beautiful and versatile!  And can be worn with other silver and/or gold jewelry.

I think all her bell earrings have SOLD OUT
but these are just as beautiful and in similar style with stars, available here
Her packaging of her jewelry is more than gift worthy too!

Here is another one of my favorite designs by her.

So fun window shopping at her shop, uniQue2ChicCesigns by Mandy C.!  Makes me wish I could wear metal jewelry again!  Continue looking at her wonderful handmade jewelry, here.  She personalizes jewelry too!

Saying Goodbye:  I am so thankful these have found such unique new lives with a jeweler artist and they appear to have even moved on down a different road to another next new life and home somewhere else to other Etsy buyers.  Fascinating!

What I Learned:

1.  I think I'm over hoarding bells.  Now, if I could just get over my love of beads!

Thank you Mandy C. from uniQue2ChicCesigns for sending me an email!  I love the idea that you created something new with the bells and made them into something more beautiful and now they've been purchased again and are spiraling "out there" as earrings in perhaps, so many different ways!  Christmas gifts, holiday jewelry, so many stories to tell!

Dr. Schulze's Detox Books: The Destiny of Things, Story 289

Dr. Schulze's Detox Books:  The Destiny of Things, Story 289

His books and detox programs saved my life and more!

Dr Schultz Detox books, available here
Read them free, online here

I have tried many different detox programs and his 30 day detox is the only one that worked successfully for me.  For me, I think it's because his solutions are practical and easy to follow, but mainly because his herbal solutions are organic and/or from clean wild plants.

I won't go into detail about how sick I was, but mainly over the years, little by little I became more allergic to certain foods and other things.  Eventually, I became highly allergic to pesticides and fungicides, but didn't know it, so even when I became a raw vegan to become healthier,  I would sometimes get more sick due to juicing or eating conventional fruits and vegetables.

So after trying one detox program after another, I didn't get better until I tried Dr Schultz's organic 30 day detox program, as a raw organic vegan.  All his formulas are organic or from clean wild plants and explains why it's important to eat organic clean foods.  Why eat more toxins, when one is trying to detox?

Dr Schultz Detox books, available here
Read them free, online here

His books are comprehensive, straight forward and even entertaining.  Each of his detox programs comes with a book and as a recovering hoarder, since they are so full of good healthy information I can not bear to throw them away!

As a matter of fact, it's his book, "Dr. Schulze's 10 Powerful Steps to a Healthier Life" that got me to seriously think about dehoarding my life!  I think it's Chapter 8 where he talks about getting rid of unnecessary things in life and calls it "trashing!"

However, since I've purged my hoard enough times to see a pattern and then have my hoard boomerang back to me ten fold, I decided I needed a different solution.

Read them free, online here
photo via google

I am very old school and do not like to read books online.  I prefer to read the old fashioned way with an actual book in my hands and guess what?  I'm not the only one!

An Etsyian sent me a short note saying:

Excellent books.  I will follow his detox

I hope it worked out as well for them as it did for me!

Dr Schultz Detox books, available here
Read them free, online here

Saying Goodbye:  I given these to many friends, but it seems only the desperate will try them and it did work for them too.  We still use Dr. Schulze's 30 day detox program spread out over a year by doing a different program each season.

Sometimes I use them more often, depending what I get exposed to accidentally, especially when something I eat that is normally gluten free and organic, etc changes it's ingredients or I have to figure out what is causing an allergic reaction, which are usually cleaning products, like dish soap or laundry detergent when they change the formula.

We are mainly organic raw vegans 5-6 days a week and juice fast 3 days a week, but we aren't stringent sticklers and it's easy to fall off that wagon and continue doing so during and after holidays and birthday celebrations, so each new season with it's 5 day detox programs pulls back on track and is a good reminder how good it feels to be a raw organic vegan again!

What I Learned:

1.  I am very thankful for Dr. Schulze and his detox programs because not only have they saved my life but they have also improved my living environment by taking action against my hoard.

As a matter of fact, right now I am doing his 5 day liver detox program because I can not figure out what is making me itch and feel prickly, like little pins and needles prickly by the end of the day. I'll eventually figure it out and have a few clues to solve this new mystery.

2.  There is a little community library down the street from me, so I think I'll go take a walk and drop off some of these books over there too!

3.  Although I have been very consistent with my dehoarding program, I have not been as close to consistent with my exercise program, so I am going to cut down on my dehoarding and balance and focus on an exercise program because I seem to do much better with habit forming schedules.

I am interested in protecting our seeds from GMO!  So many books, so little time!

Victorian Collar Bar Pin Brooch Coming Home: The Destiny of Things, Story 288

Victorian Collar Bar Pin Brooch Coming Home:  The Destiny of Things, Story 288

This little antique collar bar pin brooch tells more than one story of it's own!

More antique and vintage jewelry, here
photo via Hoarder Rehab

Incredibly detailed miniature house scene of a ship returning home with seagulls and a mountain in the distance. Scene also includes a tree lined bridge and opposite a house on a hill with grass. There's at least one story to be told in this antique Victorian collar bar pin brooch, will it be yours?

And someone did order it with their own story to tell!  They are keeping it a mystery until they post it on her blog or facebook next month.

The only clue I have is that they do re-enactments or Historic Voices or teach history through live performances.  She often plays Mrs. Lincoln,  Laura Ingalls Wilder, Elizabeth in Frankenstein and others.

I bought this back in my college days and actually used to wear it with a pair of Victorian sheer lace blouses I used to own. I used it as a collar bar brooch with one and a high collared lace bar pin with the other. I've always loved the detailed scene on it because it always seems to be telling a different story of someone either coming home or leaving home.

Saying Goodbye:  Even though this was once well loved by me, I think it's going to have a more useful and purposeful life now with someone who teaches history through live performances!  And I'm sure this person knows much about this piece, will wear it properly and share it as a detail in history.

What I Learned:

1.  I have a lot of jewelry that I can no longer wear due to allergies and yet it used to be so difficult for me to let go of each piece.  After many years, I am getting used to the fact, that I will most likely never be able to wear my jewelry again and am actually quite used to not wearing any.

As a matter of fact, it's become the opposite problem because wearing jewelry now, even if it's just for photos to list on Etsy, it feels weird now, almost heavy and bothersome.

2.  As a recovering hoarder, I am so happy that other people are enjoying my jewelry and are quietly finding new lives and homes without it causing me stress from having to let them go now.

Here is another piece I think would be great for a re-enactment.

Mini Easter Basket Baby Chenille Chicks: The Destiny of Things, Story 287

Mini Easter Basket Baby Chenille Chicks:  The Destiny of Things, Story 287

Someone loves these as much as I do!

Mini chenille baby chicks in gumball capsules, available here

How fun!  My chance to mix my love of little chenille baby chicks with my love of gumball capsules!  I remember getting some of these chicks in my Easter basket as a child and once I got older, I loved making my own Easter baskets out of old green plastic strawberry baskets!

I just loved to weave ribbon through the spaces and braid some pipe cleaners for a handle to get it ready for my dyed Easter eggs and then use them all later for the Easter egg hunts and fill all my baskets up!

Then sitting around on the grass, checking out all the prizes in my plastic eggs after the hunt hoping one of these little baby chicks was in one.

Later, it was so fun fluffing up the grass and arranging and rearranging everything in all my baskets until it looked just right!  And then doing it all over again the next day!

As you can see below, I still save those plastic berry baskets too!  They come in handy for all kinds of things, like for transporting more chicks on the back of my dump truck for Easter happiness!

Here is a quick note I received:

Delightful! Makes me smile from within! Thanks!

This little note made my morning!  And as you can tell by the memories these bring back for me, I am beaming inside and out too!

I had so much fun arranging this chickie dee scene.  Made me nostalgic for some mini foil chocolate eggs for a second!  I highly doubt someone makes those organic.

Mini chenille baby chicks in gumball capsules, available here

Saying Goodbye:  Kinda looks like they are going to pop out of their own little gumball capsule eggs!  Any minute now!

I have my own stash of these in my gumball machine just waiting to hatch!

What I Learned:

1.  As a recovering hoarder, sometimes I just can't pass up stuff I love from my childhood.  I am getting better at it and it's nice to have an outlet like Etsy for times when I go overboard.

2.   These I keep mine on hand, all year round!  Not only are they good for Easter baskets and plastic egg hunts, but they are cute just about anywhere for all ages, especially early spring time!

In garden terrariums, potted plants, window sills, shelf display, photo props to show size, as pocket travel companions for children, especially in the gumball capsule so they travel well without getting crushed.  How will you use yours?

3.  I just love the looks on these because each one has their own personality, even the ones I accidentally crushed and fluffed up again.  A couple even lost an eye in the accident and when I find them again, you know I'm going to patch them up with some wiggle eyes!

Thank you Etsy buyer from JunkDrawerAndMore for making my day!  So nice to know that these baby chicks make you smile inside too!  And a special thank you because it brought back so many sweet childhood memories of my Easters.

Now I'm wondering if my Mom still has our peep hole sugar eggs from childhood!  So fun spending hours arranging mine just so!

Thank you Etsy for the best Hoarder Rehab outlet ever!  I can't thank you enough! Because this time around, some old memories are making new ones! and this time I'm conscious about it.

Here is the email I received:

Love these, I remember these from when I was a kid I would always get these at Halloween. I am using these as part of our wedding favors, it goes with our theme my fiancé loves fishing. Thank you so much.

I just love it when these fortune fish bring back old memories and make new ones too!  How fun it would be  to get these for Halloween!  What a great idea for next year!

Hmmm.... wonder what her wedding theme is..... I do know these will be making new fun memories somewhere at someone's wedding where the groom loves to fish!

Congratulations and Best Wishes to you both!

Here is what I wrote back:

Thank you for your order and taking the time to email your story! (I will use it on my Hoarder Rehab blog and leave you anonymous.) My family loves to fish too! Many Etsy buyers have told me they make great wedding favors and use them while guests are waiting to be served.

Below is a photo from an Etsy buyer's carnival themed wedding and you can see these will come in handy to keep guests young and old occupied while they are waiting for their main meal to be served.

So fun!  Love the place mat!

photo via kind Etsy buyer from VintageToGoEasy

My Grandmother just loved to fish too and took us fishing whenever we were allowed!  She had a little motor boat and we'd go trout fishing at nearby lakes.  She was a serious fisherman and would rig our lines to be able to catch three fish at once!

If you went camping with her she'd wake up before the crack of dawn and put our poles out for us and wake us up when there was the slightest nibble!  Remember those fishing stake holders that would beep when you had a fish.  I wonder if my Dad still has ours.  Talk about a hoard of fishing supplies!

Choose an amount: 10 to 150 fortune fish, available here

Saying Goodbye:  I just love these and keep them on hand in my backpack for any time when I see someone needing a dancing fish!  I even keep some with a dollar in the bag with the fish for when I see people in need asking me for change.

Mostly I give these out as part of my Etsy "thank you" packaging because who can resist a fortune telling fish!  I wonder how many memories these brought back and how many are making new ones now.

What I Learned:

1.  Many of my hoarded items have had or have a silver lining!  So there is plenty to be thankful about!

2.  I know a lot of friends and relatives who never tire over these fun fish and they can be used for so many different kinds of celebrations and themes, like under the sea, Bohemian beach, nautical, carnival, circus, zoo, fishing, alternative Halloween treats or tricks instead of treats, little mermaid, pirate and magic!

Have some teachable moments with these magical moving fish and some little ones!  How do they move?  Is it science or magic?

Or build vocabulary, don't know what "fickle" means?  Don't like the what the movements indicate?  Little ones can build their own vocabulary blocks by making up their own fortunes using similes and antonyms.  They can write them on a large sticker and slap it over the original ones!

3.  So fun to slip into thank you notes and other special cards.

4.  Try them out!  One never knows what old memories they bring and how many new ones they'll make!

Thank you Etsy buyer from Hoarder Rehab for sending me an email with your back story!  I love it and a special thank you for your story because it brought back such sweet childhood memories with my Grandmother and her motor boat!  There are so many photos of all of us fishing I think I'll go find them in my hoard!

Speaking of hoard, thank you for the insight because there is a large possibility that hoarding runs in my family because my Dad has a hoard of fishing supplies!  And I can hear my Mom's voice echoing in the background, "how many tackle boxes do we need to keep!"

On a happier note, congratulations and best wishes to you both!  I am so thankful that in a tiny way these will be bringing back old memories to some and making new memories for many on your special day!

Float Frame for Pressed Flower Art Display: The Destiny of Things, Story 285

Float Frame for Pressed Flower Art Display:  The Destiny of Things, Story 285

Another "best seller" from our Etsy shops!

Smaller float frame in faux oak, available here
Larger float frame :SOLD OUT

I used to have these in two different sizes and in faux oak, pine and mahogany, but now we are down to only the small float frames in faux oak.

I've been collecting these float frames little by little over the years.  I first used them to display my pressed flower art cards from years ago, so that is how I first listed them as a pressed flower craft frame.  So I was so thankful when I received this note!

Perfect for my pressed flowers! So easy to slide out of the frame, easily opens like a book and then slides right back into the frame. Seller is so nice and funny! Sent a little note and goody bag.

How fun!  Someone used my idea and let me know about it!  Thank you Etsy buyer!

I have been pressing flowers since my Grandmother taught me how since I was a child.  If we had wax paper we'd put some flowers in between a small folded sheet and flatten it in between the pages of her dictionaryIf we didn't have wax paper it went straight into the dictionary anyway!

Then on my next visit, we'd check the dictionary and use toothpicks to put water downed Elmer's glue to the back side of the flowers and glue them on to little notes.  It's amazing how one little stemmed flower can take on a personality of it's own! or adding a few of it's friends could make a simple garden arrangement.

I would have had a grand time arranging and then rearranging my pressed flowers in a float frame as a child!

Smaller float frame in faux oak, available here
Larger float frame :SOLD OUT

Now I use these in my art because it's so easy to change out photos, notes, art, pressed flowero or anything flat in these frames just to see how it's going to look framed.  Almost anything looks better framed!

I often gave these away as gifts too with either a piece of art someone admired in it or a photo taken of them from a special occasion we shared together.

These are very simple easy to use wooden glass frames and as you can see in the photo below the tape that holds the two pieces of glass together is the first to go!  I just keep using the tape until it splits so much it's no longer useful and then use washi tape to hold it together.

Smaller float frame in faux oak, available here
Larger float frame :SOLD OUT

I have gotten large quantity requests for the larger float frames for weddings and even from a school for graduation photos, but unfortunately these are from my own hoard collection from saving them over the years and I'm down to my last one! in the larger size.  There are few left in the smaller size.

I thought I had one more box of these lost in my hoard too and I've been looking for it off and on since November, but I can't seem to find it.

The photo below is a good example of the two different sizes and how it can be used as a standing frame vertically or horizontally.

To get an idea of the sizes, the smaller frames hold a holy prayer cards well and the larger frame a 4x6 photo.

Smaller float frame in faux oak, available here
Larger float frame :SOLD OUT

Saying Goodbye:  I have my own stash of the smaller ones put aside, but I only kept one larger sized float frame because I thought I had another hoarded box of them somewhere!

What I Learned:

1.  This is a case where my hoard worked out well for me!  These float frames were one of our best sellers!  If only I can find the other box of them.

2.  I do have my fair share of other frames too!  So next time I find that box, I'll start listing them too!  They are probably vintage by now!

Thank you Etsy for the best Hoarder Rehab outlet ever!  I can't thank you enough!  I have gotten rid of my hoard several times and it always boomerangs back, like a bad fad diet!  and it's so disheartening when I end up with more hoard than the last purge!  I am confident that it's not going to happen this time around!
