From buried treasure map hunts to gifts, who doesn't love a treasure chest?
I have a treasure chest like the one above and a cardboard one, somewhere in my hoard from my teaching days and both were full of reward prizes!

An Etsy buyer from JunkDrawerAndMore sent me a short note letting me know that she's making a pirate treasure chest for her newphew and was using these coins and rings to fill it up! How fun!

I've used both types of these coins at pirate parties and it's always interesting to see which ones the kid's like best. They also make great pinata fillers and look great falling when the pinata gets busted! Also great filler for party favor bags.
They also work for mermaid treasure chests and look great as table confetti for Casino parties, gold themed retirement parties and King Queen Prince or Princess parties.
And last but not least, you can have fun kid's playing heads and tails until they figure out that both sides are heads!

These look really fake, but to little kids they look more like they've been buried in a treasure chest and many prefer these because of the pirate skull on them!
I have had several Etsy buyers let me know they use these for cupcake toppers, but I have no idea how food safe these are and they don't seem to be made for food decor because the black stuff is just painted on.

Had I known these were going to her nephew, I would have switched out the flower power rings for her. I just love carnival prizes, especially the kitschy type of birthstone rings. I have pirate skull rings somewhere too. Hopefully I will find them hoard diving soon!

Saying Goodbye: These treasure chest coins and rings had accumulated over the years from various parties and as a recovering hoarder I could not through them out! They now have sold well enough to keep in stock!

What I Learned:
1. I am surprised at how much of my hoard has become popular and how much we continue to keep in stock at the shops.
2. So until I get tired of all my childhood favorites, some of our Etsy items will remain listed and in stock because my hope is that they bring back old memories while making new ones!

Thank you Etsy buyer from JunkDrawerAndMore for sending a short note letting me know you are making a treasure chest for your nephew as a gift. As a kid, I remember the treasure chest at the dentist office and staring in wonder at all the possibilities! He's going to have so much fun.
I wonder if you are going to bury it and then give him a map! I used to bury these mini treasure chests and other treasures in different large cups or buckets and hide them around the classroom and give all the students a shovel, (or even a spoon will do!) map and compass to have fun while learning, the cardinal directions and become familiar with a compass rose!
