Either one of my Grandmothers or my mom would often come to my rescue and make things all better again and in this case, it was a Grandmother too!

Here's the email:

My 6 year old Grandaughter is going to lose her tooth any day now, and she had a little yellow treasure and left it on a table at a Fourth of July barbecue, and I guess it got picked up when someone was cleaning off the table. Well needless to say there was a lot of tears. So she will be so excited to get them. Thank you again!!

I can remember the flood of tears well as a child and my Grandmothers and I looking high and low for whatever it was I had lost and loved at the moment.

Saying Goodbye:   One never knows when a little one is going to lose a tooth and these come in handy for safe keeping until night time and it finds it's way under a pillow.  I have my own vintage stash of these for such emergencies.

What I Learned:

1.  One never know where new friends will be found and it seems I'm making quite a circle of friends from Etsy!

2.  I have my own stash of these for art projects, but really have no idea what to do with them.  So maybe I can keep a few for emergencies and finally let go of them all.  Perhaps a charm bracelet with these and other plastic charms, including the tooth charm locket, although I don't wear jewelry anymore.  Only time will tell.

3.  I am so thankful that these little tooth treasure chests are bringing happiness to so many children and that my "thank you" package is making little ones happy too and even adults with it's "good luck" penny!

From years of classroom use, I had forgotten if this was a large piranha or small baby shark.

From my listing:

This was one of the best teacher props ever!  Horrific Halloween decor or thriller teacher classroom decor!  It was used multiple times of the year for various lessons.  Students never seemed to get tired of inspecting it.

My students love for this was a toss up with the REAL puffer fish! (Puffer Fish photos and story here) This is an amazing odd curiosity to bring excitement and suspense when beginning any lesson pertaining to animals, fish, ocean life, carnivores, continents and oceans, etc! or really any lesson that starts to get boring!

Keep it hidden behind your back, while you introduce talk about dangerous creatures, like man eating fish and such. Have them brainstorm some, while turning to the side a bit here for a slight peek and there, start talking more quietly til your whispering...

AND THEN all of sudden say, "and I've got one to share with you today!" and just whip this out in a clear plastic box, inside a large zip lock bag with a Sherlock Holmes magnifying glass and you will hear the oooooh and aaaaahs, just like I did! Give your passing around rules, express how fragile it is and take turns with the inspections! Always provide adult supervision when being handled by students!

So this little guy was handled by over 500 students over my teaching career and it's intact!

The person who ordered it sent me this email about it:

I purchased these tiger shark jaws (that's the species) to add to the collection of items in my teen son's shark-themed bathroom. We live about 300 miles from the beaches here in Texas, so we don't get to the water as much as we would like. I am so thankful to have found your specimen on Etsy! The jaws probably did come from a juvenile shark...they are the troublemakers that nip folks on the ankles at the beaches here. They haven't learned the difference between bait fish and human legs with ankle bracelets!

Precious and dainty...didn't think you could say that about sharks' teeth, did you?! We found the perfect keepsake frame and hope to have this on the wall today.

Nope, how cool is that!  My precious and dainty tiger shark jaw in a shark themed room!  It sounds like a little shark museum.  My students and I would have loved to seen something like that and would have loved to have known that the jaw may have bitten some ankles!  Good to know it's safe behind some glass now!

Saying Goodbye:  I can't even remember when or where I got this little guy, but one of my first themed teaching lessons was "Friends or Foe of the Oceans" which led to the Seven Seas and Continents.  Anyways, I'm so thankful this has gone to a better life and home.  It's now free from my "ocean" box.

Now if I can only let go of my shell collection, many which are from when my mom and aunt worked at Disneyland in the 50s.  Below is the second most classroom favorite thing from my "ocean" collection.  It came off one of my mom's huge seashell beach basket purse.

What I Learned:

1.  My hoarded items seem to be easier to let go these days and I'm thinking of having a sale to speed up the process, but then again, I don't well when too many things leave too quickly.  It's too much for me to process at once.  Dilemma.

2.  I have been making more time for art projects, but I really don't like what I've been making.  I continue on in hopes I will find something soon.

What do you do when you have a creative block?  I'm moving on and trying different things, but my ideas are not turning into the realities I've imagined! Been looking for other things to try on Pinterest, which is quite addictive!  Today I started looking for inspiration with Japanese packaging and ended up here!

They seem to be coming back in style again!  We've been getting large order requests for weddings to cocktail parties, but this order was to make a wreath!

I wonder if craft styrofoam in wreath shape would work or some kind of wreath shaped mesh and as the party progresses, one could just pluck an umbrella off it as drinks are made.

These umbrellas are great for children's drinks too!  I remember getting my Shirley Temple with a pretty paper umbrella, thin red stir straw just like grown ups!  with a cherry at the end of the umbrella and a couple more swimming around!

I always felt like I was having my own grown up fancy drink and would sit up straight and think of how maraschino cherries didn't seem like cherries and wondered how they got the seed out with the stem on! And afterwards, I'd put the umbrella behind an ear and feel like singing, "on the good ship lollipop!"

History of the Shirley Temple Drink from Wise Geeks:  A Shirley Temple is a sweet, non-alcoholic drink named after the child actress Shirley Temple. The drink was invented for Shirley by a bartender in Beverly Hills, CA. The bartender worked at Chasen’s restaurant, a place Shirley Temple often frequented as a child.

Since she clearly could not drink alcohol, Chasen’s sought a drink that would appeal to Shirley’s young palate, and the Shirley Temple was born.

The original recipe called for two parts ginger ale, one part orange juice and about a teaspoon to tablespoon of grenadine. It was usually garnished with a cherry and possibly an orange slice.

Saying Goodbye:   I still use these to decorate fruit salads and I'm having a Shirley Temple light at the moment, just sparkling water and cherry juice while going down memory lane on the good ship lollipop.

What I Learned:

1.  So many crafts and so little time!  I've returned to mending as a creative outlet because I find it so connecting to myself in a peaceful quiet way.  There's something about giving new life to something worn and falling apart as it turns into something else, while reconnecting to myself in some way I can't explain.

What a surprise email to get with a photo update of these in a Pirate Themed Birthday Party!

Here is the email I received with a sweet photo of pirates digging for buried treasures!

These cute little "treasure" chests were used for my son's second birthday party which was pirate themed. We had a kiddie pool filled with sand and buried treasure that the kids got to dig in. I had many different kinds of treasure, but I especially loved these little tooth boxes because they can be used for future lost teeth. The skull bead also fit perfectly with the pirate themed party.

I remember when this order came in because it was my first request for skull beads instead of heart pony beads!  How fun!

I've always loved these treasure chest tooth saver holders and so happy to see how many others it's making happy too!  What a cool alternative way to use a play pool!  Pirate maps and buried treasures!  X marks the spot!  I wonder what other treasures were found that day.  Happy memories and birthday fun!

Saying Goodbye:  I have my own stash of these, some are vintage and some are not.  I have collected them in various colors and shades.  I want to use them in my mixed media art assemblage and look forward to a time when I have enough room to do so.

What I Learned:

1.  Making a project list for my ideas and items collected has been a real "eye opener" to just how much stuff I have saved for my art projects.  I haven't decided what to do about my project lists because it's much longer then anticipated and not organized.

For example I wanted to use these with some Monopoly cards I have saved, but have no idea where the cards are now and I think I have two batches of cards from losing the first one!

2.  On of the biggest hurdles that I have as a recovering hoarder is that all my "too much stuff" seems to call out to me!  Put me away!  Find a better spot for me!  Take me to the trash for crying out loud!  See if Aunt so and so wants this! Read me!  Pay me!  Recycle me!  Use me in your next art project!

Just to have some peace and quiet most everything are in boxes!  So I guess I'll just use whatever doesn't get sold on Etsy in my art projects and I suspect all my favorite things will end up being last.  Which also means no more buying stuff for the sake of art projects.  Oh my.  Sigh.  I wonder if that's possible.

What's your favorite art or craft supply that you can never get enough of?  Oh so many!  but off the top of my head, nine might be paper and I think I have reached my limit!

 Too bad I can't remember where I found this photo!  This would be fun for an 

impromptu treasure hunt after a beach day!

SOLD OUT!

Saying Goodbye:   As a recovering hoarder, I never thought I'd be so happy to say these are all SOLD OUT!  It feels so good to have them all gone!  Of course, I saved a few for myself because they are so handy, especially for a backpack, purse, grocery tote, etc. which I have in everyone of my totes, especially my main Farmer's Market - Grocery tote for easy access to keys and a change purse.

I just clip my keys to it on to a zipper pull or anywhere handy and I can find my keys instantly!

What I Learned:

1.  There are many different uses for these.  My Mom makes a large purses and bags.  She sews a larger split ring into each one and adds one of these, so keys and other important things don't get lost in it.  Another Etsy buyer uses them as pacifier holders to attach to diaper bags.  Don't want to lose those in a pinch either!

2.  These are from my teacher days when I gave key chains as rewards to my class because many of my students were latch key kids and key chains helped them stay more organized.  They attached them to their backpack zippers, belt loops, or anything with a loop, etc. 

How do you keep your purse organized?  I use a backpack that has about six or more pockets in it!

It's a mystery to as to why I do, but I think I'm over it now.  These are some of the last few from my collecting.  I suppose Coca Cola was a treat for most children of the baby boomer era and I was no exception, but we were only allowed to drink it on special occasions or an "out of the blue" treat.

Now a days I avoid high fructose corn syrup, but every once in awhile on a hot sunny day "out of the blue" I will have a bottled Coca Cola from Mexico made with cane sugar.  It's not organic and probably not good for my allergies, but at least Mexico doesn't allow GMO or maybe that's changed too.

SO HAPPY!!!! I purchased these for a friend's birthday. Received them today, just in time for her birthday (tomorrow.) I am very pleased with these glass candle holders! They are in prefect condition! Excited about shopping again with this shop!

Saying Goodbye:   I think these would look great when I have a Minimalist home and I just love these because they remind me of Pop Art Coca Cola cans that are very versatile because they can be used as candle holders, vases or beverage cups, but I just have too much stuff and will be thankful when they all have found good homes!

What I Learned:

1.  As a recovering hoarder, I certainly used to buy random items without much thought except because I liked them for my collection. It's only when I get home and start to think about how they will fit in or where to display or store them, so I see where some of my hoarding habits begin and end.

For instance, how many candle holders, vases and drinking glasses do I need?  I certainly have an abundance of of all three and continue to only use my several few favorites.

2.  I just love green glass! especially green beach glass.
