Paper Heart Doily Ideas for Mother's day: The Destiny of Things, Story 452

Paper Heart Doily Ideas for Mother's day:  The Destiny of Things, Story 452

Inspired from an Etsy buyer from Valentine's day!

As seen in the photo, 6 inch heart doilies available here

This kind Etsy buyer comes every year during Valentine season and leaves such fun notes!

Thank you for these medium sized lovely paper heart doilies! I am having fun with them, they are quite special. Every time I see these Valentine hearts I am transported back to grade school days, 5th and 6th grade especially. I always enjoyed our class Valentine parties and loved the Valentine cards that I received in my large heart shaped open envelope pouch that we all made & taped to the front of our desks. I remember walking around the classroom dropping special Valentine's at everyone's desk & eating frosted heart shaped cookies and candies & drinking red punch. It was a great time to be alive! :-) The memories and warm feelings these give me are priceless. Everything arrived quickly and was packaged well. I highly recommend, as always ~

I just love it when my stuff brings back old memories and then makes new ones!

Large paper heart doilies:  SOLD OUT!

Another inspirational note!

I really love these paper heart doilies! They remind me of elementary school Valentine's arts and crafts that we would make & decorate the classroom & our desks with. Such fond memories! :-) These are very beautiful. My daughter used a few of the heart doilies to make a birthday-Valentine for her brother, whose birthday happens to be Valentine's Day. :-) Thank you so much for these paper heart doilies, I really do love them. I highly recommend this fabulous shop and fun seller! P.S. Thank you for the note & sweet little extras!!

How fun to make Valentine's birthday cards for a sibling!

I love heart doilies too and used to have a hoard of them!  They remind me of kindergarten, when I needed to make Valentine's for everyone in class, but only had about 3 round white doilies and some red construction paper.  Now I love the smaller tinier ones, which are not so easy for me to find anymore, but I have some saved.

I love working with the 3 inch or smaller heart or round doilies!  Anyone "out there" know where to get a deal on doilies that are 3 inches to postage stamp sized in all different kinds of shapes?

Saying Goodbye:  I just love doilies too and the feel of their thinness takes me back in time.  I just love peeling them carefully apart while they bring back memories.  I remember my Grandmother used doilies for our bento picnic lunches for tempura and dinners.  It always felt special to get our own doily with our own yummy serving of tempura on it!!!!

What I Learned:

1.  There are so many different kinds of doilies out there.  Of course, I'd like to collect them all, especially some tiny square and rectangle ones.  I'd love to find postage stamp sized doilies! However, I have more ideas for my doilies than actually doing "something" with them, so I need to change that!

2.   Here are my paper heart doily ideas for Mother's day!  First use them as table confetti for Mother's day brunch or dinner, then for a fun activity bring out some crayons, colored pencils and pens and let everyone, children and adults, write a special note or kids can draw a picture of a memory with mom or even just kind words that describe Moms.

6 inch paper heart doilies available here

3.  Then hang them as a Mother's day garland!  Use clothes pins or paper clips to hang each doily on a string hanging from point A to point B!  A fun and interactive activity for everyone to join in, connect and share!

4.  This would work for any occasion, like Father's day and upcoming birthdays, even the Fourth of July!  One could write what they are thankful for from our country.  With small children one could make it into a teachable moment too, but talking about synonyms and antonyms.

How many old memories would be brought back to life and how many new ones would be made?

Here is an example of using doilies with letters on them.  I would also be fun if one like this was dedicated to all the Mom's in the world with drawing, words and notes!  A lower garland would be easier for children to add their own handmade doily.  A boundary garland would be fun for outside park parties with hanging doilies for kids to add to it and know not to go beyond, like one tree trunk to another tree trunk.

Thank you kindest Etsy buyer from The Destiny of Things!  I am so grateful that these doilies brought you old memories as well as made new ones for you and your children!
I sure do hope I see you next year!  Thank you so much for all your Hoarder Rehab support!

Thank you Etsy for the best Hoarder Rehab ever!  And for all the kind people I'm meeting who are helping me indirectly and directly in so many ways with my Hoarder Rehab!  I've been gleaning so much insight about my hoarding ways.

5 oOmg! Best timing for me to get this in the mail, ever. Actually best thing I've gotten in the mail for awhile QwQ Loved everything and love the penny sticker for my thoughts best, while the Tooth Saver treasure chest is my second fav! My love for dorky puns beats my nostalgia craving XD Mostly I love, how even if Pink may be my least fav color, none of the items were girly to me. Piggies, hearts, praying mantis, even the flowers aren't girly in my eyes. I'm so happy and really appreciate the note too! Hope this review encourages not only more customers but also you to keep doing what you do. Thank you again X3

I haven't made doily cards in years, but here are some examples.  The "Keep This Coupon" card is going to a friend, on the back of the card is the other half of the coupon,
The middle heart lace doily card is available here
and the last doodad was an experiment with a choya top

Thank you readers from all over the world that have taken the time to visit and support my Hoarder Rehab and The Destiny of Things!

30+ Pink Items in Diamond Desk Inspiration: The Destiny of Things, Story 451

30+ Pink Items in Diamond Desk Inspiration:  The Destiny of Things, Story 451

An over the top note makes my day with my favorite, an update photo!

This one has sold out, but I have one like it that is pirate themed, available here

Here is the over the top fun note I received with an update photo:

Of course, I'm wondering what her favorite color is, since it's not pink!  and of course, I'm wondering what she is going to do with her new found inspiration!
photo via kind Etsy buyer

What a sweet surprise from such a kind and appreciative Etsy buyer!  And to think pink is her least favorite color and she still ordered and loved it!  I am so thankful!

The timing couldn't be better for both of us!   It's been a difficult week and this has inspired me to keep dehoarding and that it's worth all the time and effort.

Also, I am so happy that her favorite in the "thank you" packaging was the penny sticker and her thoughts, so kind of her to let me know!  Not many acknowledge the "penny for your thoughts" and I feel so heartfelt, when someone does!  Thank you so much!

And everything, but the pretty in pink praying mantis fit in the diamond box!
This one has sold out, but I have one like it that is pirate themed, available here

Saying Goodbye:  I had made several different kinds of these diamond box desk inspirations, but they took years to sell and a long time to make and then double check them, so I no longer make them...... but her note was so inspiring I might reconsider.

Here is my second to last one, that is Hello Kitty themed in red and pink, available here.  Photo via The Destiny of Things

What I Learned:

1.  Some things I've listed on our shops are a "labor of love," but not really worth my time and effort for listing because it's just not profitable.  This type of item is one of them.  I think I've made about 10 different kinds of these and luckily all but 2 have sold.

These are a "labor of love" due to it's time consuming because I first buy and gather all the items and make sure they fit in the diamond box (my favorite part).  Then take photos of it all, then list each thing in the description (this one had 30 different items) and then when it's ordered I double check to make sure everything listed is included and then package it and ship it off!  Even though I love to make these the rest takes up a lot of time spent for the price of it!

But I've loved learning about the business side of retail, like profits and time management and have learned more than I imagined!

2.  I've worn a lot of different hats in my years, but never the online retail business hat and I've learned so much, thanks to Etsy and my hoard!  Online retail therapy has been such and eye opener learning experience and a great way to let go of my hoard in a manner that feels safe and manageable to me.

3.  However, now that I've recovered from many of my ailments, like sciatica and lower back pain and illnesses (my allergies and hoarding are slowly healing too!)  I think I'll be moving to other things!  What those things are, I have no idea yet, but it's going to be something good because I'm going to start dreaming BIG!

Here is the pirate themed on that fits in a diamond box, available here

Thank you kindest Etsy buyer from JunkDrawerAndMore! because making your day made my day and then made my day again with your over the top words for me!

Gum ball Capsules for Kid's Product on Shark Tank: The Destiny of Things, Story 450

Gum ball Capsules for Kid's Product on Shark Tank:  The Destiny of Things, Story 450

100 capsules with a very interesting story!  Break a leg!

50 or 100 gum ball bubble plastic vending machine capsules, available here
photo via Hoarder Rehab

Here is the kindest email I received:

Hi Kennedy,

What an absolutely delightful person you must be!  I loved the little bag of treats that you included in my order.  My kids and I had an especially fun time with the fortune teller fish.

Soooo,   I am using my capsules as a component in a prototype for a fun kids' product that I hope to someday bring to market.  At the end of March I will be auditioning to appear on Shark Tank to pitch my idea.  Getting picked is, of course, a long shot.  However, whether or not that happens, it is forcing me to take necessary steps in making this little dream a reality.  Wish me luck!

Again, your handwritten note and trinkets made my day.

Blessings to you!
L

Wonder, wonder, wonder what her prototype fun kid's product look like and I hope to see it on the market soon!
Incoming!

I wonder how her audition went too!  I wonder if we'll be seeing her on Shark Tank soon!  I sure do hope so!  What a fun and interesting way to pitch her idea!

Also, gotta love her attitude about making her dreams come true and taking the necessary steps to do so!

I used these all the time for all kinds of things, but mainly for shipping out jewelry from all our shops, especially kid's jewelry!  It makes it look more fun!
Red or blue rose 2 picture photo vintage locket, available here

Saying Goodbye:  I have my own collection of these in varying colors and some rare or hard to find colors, like opalescent.  I still need to find silver and gold.  I started collecting these years ago for one of my art projects.

I've been filling up a capsule machine with all my childhood jewelry and other mini toys from memories past and well, as a recovering hoarder, got a little carried away years ago, but these are one of our most popular items now!

I also use them to ship out our animal figurines.  The one in the photo has sold, but we have another one, available here and it doesn't show the capsule, but it will arrive in one!  Also I think this is the last of the pink bunny rabbits.

What I Learned:

1.  Don't let my blog stories pile up on me!  I wish I had written this one last week, so I could have wished her luck on her audition in a more timely manner!

2.  Maybe I'll watch Shark Tank and see what it's all about!  I hope she won the audition, so I can see her episode on Shark Tank and perhaps my capsules too!

3.  Some of my hoard has worked out and have become our "top" sellers, yet others have not.  I am no longer using with my "hoarding without hoarding" experiment, nor do I need to hoard anymore.

I haven't bought anything unnecessary since January and the last 2 items I did buy in Januaray for my art projects did not fall through, one the shop owner bent everything to fit in the box, so it did not come as described and the other I'm supposed to wait another 2 months for a refund since it's lost in International mail.  I hope I can remember it that I should get a refund in June!

So the hassle of those last 2 packages have a silver lining, I felt like it was a message for me to "use what I have!" and haven't bought a thing since!

You can order these in all kinds of different amounts, but 5 is our lowest quantity, available here
photo via VintageToGoEasy

4.  How is your Lent going?  I am so happy that it's almost over!  I think I'll be able to give up fried foods indefinetly, but I'm not sure about caffeine.  Last weekend, coffee smelled so good, I just wanted a sip to taste it's deliciousness.  I stopped myself since April 16th is right around the corner!

However, my biggest milestone is that I shifted my goals from art projects and am no longer buying much of anything!  I'd rather save that money for different future goals, like being able to help others in some way.

I haven't figured out how I will help others yet, but I have faith that it will come in it's own due time when I most need it!

One Etsy buyer turned them into pineapple candy favor boxes for her daughter's pool party!  All yellow capsules, available here

Thank you Etsy buyer for your stupendously kind fun curious note with all the sweet compliments and letting me know that my little "thank you" packaging was a blast for you and your kids!  Your news made my day that day as well as today!  So thank you very much!

I am very curious to see how you used the capsules with your prototype for your kid's product.  I bet it's going to be super cute and popular!

Thank you for inspiring me to make my dreams come true by taking the necessary steps to do so!  Even though mine will have to be very very tiny baby steps, since I would not be brave enough to audition for anything!

I hope you made the audition and I can start looking for you soon on Shark Tank!  Keep me posted!  Blessings to you too!

Mini Glassine Bags for Soap Samples: The Destiny of Things, Story 449

Mini Glassine Bags for Soap Samples:  The Destiny of Things, Story 449

Cute and eco friendly mini glassine transparent bags!

Here is the sweet note I received:

Loved them! Perfect for my soap samples (as you guessed correctly!) thank you for the lovely note and extra goodies.

I am always wondering how my hoard is being used and sometimes I take a guess and I got this one correct!   And you have to check out her shop of yummy soaps, Bee's Botanicals here!  She has vegan Soaps body Essentials, and organic dried botanicals.

If you are like me and have outrageous allergies to all things commercial or conventional, I did spy some organic soaps in her shop too!  I'd love to try some, just not sure how my skin would react.

I use a Whole Foods soap that I'm not allergic too and when I'm feeling brave will try an unscented organic soap from them because if I have a reaction I can return it for a full refund due to my allergies.

From my mini art to loose sample beads to a secret or special note!
Choose your amount from 10 to 100+ mini glassine bags, available here

As you can see above, I use these bags all the time for "thank you" packaging, which goes inside a larger bag and it all holds a sampler of items we sell at our shops.

I also use them for gifting little stuff and love them because I can put a small to tiny valuable gift, like folded mad money or birthday money or a sterling charm or pendant inside and then put that mini bag inside a larger bag and it won't get lost with the items I put in the larger bag.

They also can be turned into cute envelopes and gift tags!   Maybe you'll think of a way to use them for fun packaging this Easter! or Mother's day!

FYI, a credit card or gift card or business card will not fit inside one of these!

Saying Goodbye:  I love glassine and vellum bags and envelopes and have my own small collection of them.  (My collection fits in a small take out box)  I use them to package my small ACEO ATC art, gift tags and Holy prayer cards too because not only are they protected on the outside by paper, but I love how I can still see the product through the protection.

Here is an example of how I turned a glassine bag into a gift tag with a mini 2 fold card inside it.  Just punch a hole, add a donut sticker and loop through some raffia, ribbon or twine.  This handmade by me washi tape quilt inspired card is available here.  Photo via The Destiny of Things

What I Learned:

1.  More of my hoard than I ever thought is becoming popular on our shops (I call these popular shop items, "rehoard of mine," since now I have a better use for them now) and am so thankful they continue to go out in the world!

2.  I've been trying to shift my ideas on hoarding and here is today's:  "Hoarding is like everything else in this life, it is a mirror of my inner thoughts and beliefs."   I could beat myself up with negative thoughts about me and my hoard, but I've learned that won't get me far and most likely trigger my anxiety about to hoard more, so I've been slowly changing my thoughts and ideas.

More of my Gee's Bend inspired quilt art cards with glassine bags made into gift tag envelopes, available herePhoto via Hoarder Rehab

3.  There are probably many reasons why I hoard, but I know one of them was because I didn't think I was good enough and having all these things around me that I could accumulate made me feel like I was filling a deep hole within myself, until one day I realized the hole was bottomless and the only thing I could fill it with my highest good and my highest self.

4.  So with my thinking and ideas shifting, I can see other things in my life shifting too, like my dreams, ideas and beliefs about myself and even my health is shifting into more positive habits and different ways of thinking.

How has shifting your thoughts help you today?  I've noticed I've been shifting my thoughts more and more each day and Lent has really helped me with shifting thoughts for finding alternatives to my fried food addition and I don't even need caffeine in the morning anymore!  Yippee!

Here are the larger glassine bags I use for "thank you" packaging (to the right you can see a sample of a "thank you" package with a fortune fish inside it) and occasionally popcorn movie night!  I like to put the mini bag inside the larger bag when I have something tiny that I don't want to get lost in the mix of the larger bag, like a valuable gift of money or jewelry.
Larger 7x3 glassine food bags with a gusset to hold popcorn and other party favors in 10-30 count, available here.  In larger counts of 50 to 100+, available here.   Photo via Hoarder Rehab

Thank you Bee's Botanicals for your kind note and answering my guess to you!  It keeps me going on my Hoarder Rehab journey and I am so thankful that others are "out there" doing their best by using as much eco friendly packaging as possible!

Here are some of on my wish list when I heal myself of my allergies, her pound of oops soap sampler that doesn't look oopsy at all, just simply beautiful to me, here, you know how I just love to buy stuff for the packaging and hers is beautiful, even love her logo, so I'd want this just to see how she folded it up so nicely, here.

She also has an organic collection with some amazing smelling scents, like coffee, ginger snaps, Eucalyptus, Sandalwood (which are my favorite smells) and more, check them out here.
