Seven Easter Lockets for Seven Daughters: The Destiny of Things, Story 501

Seven Easter Lockets for Seven Daughters:  The Destiny of Things, Story 501

Such an inspirational story!

A few more like these might be lost in the hoard, but I know I only have one left exactly like these and it's in a bulk jewelry destash at our other shop, VintageToGoEasy, here.  Photo via JunkDrawerAndMore

Here is the story:

I have 7 girls and i wanted to give them these lockets for Easter. Both of my parents have passed away in the last 3 years. I thought pics of them would be a good way for them to always have them near. Thank you so much! These are going to be perfect

Here is what I wrote back:

Wow! I am so happy to hear these are going to become matching Easter keepsakes for 7 girls! As a recovering hoarder,I am so thankful these are going to have such a wonderful new life and home with you all!

Thank you for sharing, you've made my day! I will add your story to my Hoarder Rehab and the Destiny of things blog and keep you anonymous!

Kindest regards,
Kennedy

These are only 5 in this photo, but she did get seven and they are pretty large lockets, so a good sized photo could fit inside. A few more like these might be lost in the hoard, but I know I only have one left exactly like these and it's in a bulk jewelry destash at our other shop, VintageToGoEasy, here

I am so thankful that these found new lives and such a good home with seven daughters with their grandparents photos inside them to keep them close to their hearts. Of course, I'd love to the lockets with the photos inside and am already wondering.....

Did each locket have the same photo of the their grandparents? or did each locket get a different photo of them, like their grandparents holding each as a baby when they were first born. or their favorite photo of their grandparents and on and on. Overthinking again!

A few more like these might be lost in the hoard, but I know I only have one left exactly like these and it's in a bulk jewelry destash at our other shop, VintageToGoEasy, here.

Saying Goodbye: When I was a child, I loved lockets and were given many as gifts. I wore them often too, but I never did put any photos inside them. Probably because as an over thinker I couldn't decide on which photos to add. I still have them and maybe as I find them, I'll put the photos of whoever gave them to me inside them and make one large locket charm bracelet!

What I Learned:

1. I wonder if my over thinking goes along with my hoarding. Thinking about mindless things, like wondering which grandparents photos went into those lockets is not exactly how I want to use up all my brain power for the day, but I do like to dwell on things like that.

2. Speaking about being mindless, I seem to forget that I'm getting old and just can not do as much lifting as I did in the past. I was working away in the hoarded up room, imagine me happily whistling, going through box after box, organizing them and emptying some of them by consolidation, when suddenly I made a few false moves while lifting a couple of boxes while "turning" and out went my sciatica again!

And this time it came with hip muscle pain in several areas in the back and front of my hip! I didn't notice it until early morning when I had to use the bathroom and I couldn't move an inch without pain! Call me Ms. Inchworm because it took me an hour to sit up in bed, get out of bed, walk to the bathroom, etc and return back to bed! It was like my life was in slow motion with twinges of pain and sometimes I was Ms. Half Inch Worm and it was still painful!

3. The forgetting how old I am incident happened on Friday and by Saturday, I was left flat on my back in pain! Even sneezing and laughing was painful, but I could breath and lay still without pain, so I meditated most of the weekend. I also forgot how tiring pain can be, even if you aren't doing anything, but laying down.

I followed most of Ajahm Brahm's guided meditations on pain and healing and learned how to relax those muscles. I also used the end of a wooden spoon to deep tissue massage some tight areas around the back and front of my hip and used Dr. Schulz's deep tissue oil to keep the areas warm and drank a lot of cayenne tea. I find the cayenne tea works much better for me than tumeric or golden milk tea.

Now the sharp pains are gone and I'm just left with numbing pains that seem to float around from the back of my knee all the way up to my neck to behind my ear and down my arm to my wrist. I feel like I've made huge progress, now I can reach the bathroom in normal record breaking time without sharp pain!

I've never recovered so quickly from sciatica, it usually takes me about three months, and this injury was much worse, but this time I learned so much from Ajahm Brahm about how to manage pain and how I could make it less or let it be just through meditation! Unbelievable! I think I'll be able to have full mobility without pain by next week!

4. What a wake up call! This is at least my third episode of my sciatica acting up, so this time I'm going to strengthen myself with yoga and walking mediation and see where that takes me. Also it was interesting watching my life go in slow motion every time I wanted to move. I certainly had to stay in the present moment. I certainly became thankful to learn to move without pain and how to manage it just through my own awareness and I'm certainly thankful for my husband and Ajahm Brahm for all their help and support! Literally and figuratively!

What the best way you've found to manage chronic pain? I've been mediating for perhaps a year now, but it wasn't until I found a more mindful way to meditate in January when I started to listen to Ajahn Brahm. I think I'm making much better progress in mind, body and spirit since I've been practicing his guided meditations. I've also read a couple of his books, my favorite being, "Who Ordered this Truckload of Dung?" I didn't get to finish them but have put them back on hold at our local library.

I have a hoard of lockets and jewelry assemblage pieces listed at each shop in bulk and on sale, but this one has at least one last oval rose locket, I have some like it but in circular shape with red or blue roses too. This pictured bulk jewelry destash is available here

Thank you Etsy buyer from JunkDrawerAndMore for taking the time to share such an inspirational story and idea!  Hope you make the necklaces long enough so they can keep their loved ones close to their hearts!  Would love to see them wearing them!

Everyday is such an adventure dehoarding on Etsy!   I never know who I'll meet and I have met so many Etsy buyers who share their stories with me and every time I glean some insight about where my dehoarding journey is taking me.

My Pandora's box is on hold, which now that I'm more healed it's much more difficult for me to witness the mess in the junk room and and even worse now that I can't do anything about the living room.  I can't even see the couch anymore!  Yikes!  In due time, all things must pass and my sciatica pain and my hoard will one day be gone!

Thank you Etsy for the best Hoarder Rehab ever!  And for all the kind people I'm meeting who are helping me indirectly and directly in so many ways with my Hoarder Rehab!

I am so thankful that my hoard is still finding new lives and homes weekly.  I hope to get back to new listing next week because this weekend, besides me recuperating,  we are concentrating on our taxes.

I've had to lower my goal of 180 items per shop to 170 items listed on each shop, so I don't stress myself out in that area too.  I am happy and thankful to say so many items are finding new lives and homes daily!

Sales seem even slower, but we are still back to our old average, but that's okay, since I am mobile as long as I don't have to bend anywhere lower than my elbows or sit in a chair or car or bend or pick up anything from the waist down!  I was really looking forward to joining the Etsy sale, but I'll have to wait til next week or so.

Click on the shop names to visit new hoard listed daily and/or weekly: HoarderRehab with 167 items, The Destiny of Things- 169 items, VintageToGoEasy - 167 items and JunkDrawerAndMore - 171 items.

Maybe you'll find something and give it new life and a new home!  Thanks for looking!

Kindness Capsules for Girlfriend: The Destiny of Things, Story 500

Kindness Capsules for Girlfriend:  The Destiny of Things, Story 500

Someone made a capsule contraption with these for his girlfriend!  Such positive fun!

10+ empty pastel gum ball plastic capsules retro new baby shower birthday toy prize party favor cake topper sprinkle container table confetti pinata filler candy charm trinket container, available here

Here is the note and photo I received:

I used these to make a gum ball machine contraption for my girlfriend filled with jokes and compliments, and they are perfect! The colors are really nice and the vendor sent a lot of cute little trinkets!

How cute!  He and his girlfriend sound like the perfect ones!  Of course, I'd love to be a fly on the wall and see how his capsule contraption turned out and even more so, would love a sneak peek at the jokes and compliments he added.

I can see some compliments and jokes have already been made!

What a great idea for any occasion!  What a fun gift to make and/or receive!  What a perfect way to spice up a relationship!  I'm thinking for making one for our family, but with a little twist.  I'd include jokes and lots of kindness compliments for the family too and then have each person add where what they'd like to do for a special weekend.  Maybe like 3 things to do for free on the weekend and the other 3 we'd have a dollar amount budgeted for each weekend fun.

Or maybe one with all random acts of kindness we could do for others as a family thrown in there too!  And other inspirational surprise ideas!  I'd keep ours in a jar, lol, nothing fancy.  Who knows what I'd end up buying trying to make a contraption to hold them!

These are small sized, but can pack a buck!  I've folded a one dollar bill carefully and it fit inside, so I know it can hold a piece of paper the size of a dollar bill to write a letter or smaller sized, like a fortune cookie fortune sized piece of paper, pastel capsules, available here

Saying Goodbye:  I used to covet these plastic capsules during my hoarding days!  I still have my own stash of the more unusual colors saved in a shoe box with tons of ideas on how to use them, but I'm just not sure anymore of what my next hoard-less vocation will take me.

What I Learned:

1.  Now I seem to be going into a completely opposite direction and want to get rid of everything I absolutely don't need!  Including my mixed media art, collage and other craft supplies!  Okay, I waver on the supplies, but the seed has been sowed.

2.  I opened Pandora's box in January thinking I could find some childhood art of a family member that I thought was in a box in the hoarded up room, but I've let had to let that go because it was driving me crazy!  And it was so disappointing opening up box after box and not finding it, so I've had to shift my perspective.

I'm still going through boxes in the 2nd room, but it's starting to transform in tiny baby steps into a music art room and all the boxes that were piled high went into the living room, so I could sort through them.  I plan to have the living back to normal by the end of this month.  Most boxes have been sorted and organized now and I've emptied over 15 boxes so far!  Round of applause for my hoarder rehab!  If not gone, at least it's getting organized.  Nice to know it only took about 3 months of dedicated hard work to close Pandora's box!

3.  The big crisis and all the little waves of quake size crisis' from the winter holidays and beyond are long gone into the past and I'm out of survival mode and back into healing mode.  Meditation has helped more than I suspected and not only has helped me to stay peaceful, but also keeps my energy at higher levels.

Hmmm, the dollar bill doesn't look so nicely folded up as I remember, but I got it to fit!

What have you found to keep you calm lately?  For me, it used to be retail therapy that became a habitual form of hoarding, but lately it's been meditation.

I did buy a Venus Fly Trap this month because I used to always keep one in the classroom to show the students that some plants are carnivore and it used to keep the fly and gnat situation under control during the summer classroom months, so I'm hoping it will do the same during the hot season in the kitchen.

I haven't returned to my yoga or walking, but I hope to incorporate both back into my healing mode soon.  I'm still mediating for about 45 minutes in the morning and again before bedtime.  And would love to learn "walking meditation" next.

If your heart is not set on any particular colors, we have the plastic capsules on sale in amount of 20, 25 and 30, available here.  Photo via The Destiny of Things

Thank you Mr. Etsy buyer from JunkDrawerAndMore for taking the time to send a inspirational note and photo!  Hope you make some new memories with your girl friend over your perfect idea of using these to hold compliments and jokes!  Love to see your contraption!

I've been spending more time in my Pandora's box, I mean junk room and I can see progress, but now my living room is a waist high disaster area with file boxes and little paths here and there leading to the front door, kitchen and dining room!  Don't bump into any boxes for a midnight snack!

Sales seem to have slowed down a bit back to our old average, so I think it's time to join the Etsy sale!  Our shop wasn't invited this time because I guess we don't fit into their new category search thingy?  but we are going to join in over this weekend.

Saying Goodbye:  I've been collecting these for years now, but since my hoarding days are over, I've only kept my "true" vintage ones.  Did I just say, "my hoarding days are over?"  I think they might be then!

What I Learned:

1.  It's been one family crisis after another since January and usually that kind of stress sends me high tailing it right into the arms of retail therapy!  And if I could, for some reason, I think I'd be hoarding scarves!  But it's been 3 months now and I haven't bought anything in the retail therapy department, unless donuts count!

I haven't been returned to hoarding to calm myself, but when it reaches it's highest point, I have turned to my slew of comfort foods!  Which is usually french fries, but even that didn't make a dent this time, it had to be a donut!   Luckily a quarter of a donut got me out of bed each morning, lol.

I have been more aware this time around and realized that plenty of my old toxic childhood habits meticulously appear out of no where and hound me!  The biggest issue is indecisiveness due to overthinking because I feel like no mistakes can be made and I must tread so lightly from all the egg shell walking while trying to figure out what is "really" happening and how best to put out the crazy making fire, which is just that, more crazy making gasoline!  Plus....

2.  I opened Pandora's box to my room of hoard in January looking for some childhood art from a cousin who unexpectedly passed and my boxed up hoard has spilled over into the living room, opening box after box trying to find it.  It has truly been an eye opener for me!

The BAD:  I found so many boxes of paper I've saved for collages, off the top of my head, I'd say 10 to 15 boxes.  And I have just as many boxes of kimonos, boro, cutter quilts and other fabric waiting for me to transform.  I still have a couple boxes worth of my teaching destash.  I went through 3-4 boxes today and still did not find my cousin's childhood art yet.  (When I saw boxes, I mean the file box sized boxes)

The GOOD:  I've almost gone through and organized all the boxes in the 2nd room.  The 2nd room is waiting to be transformed into an art music room.  I think I have about 10 more file boxes to sort through and organize.  I found boxes of craft projects, which I call fun boxes organized enough to start.  My packaging and shipping area is more efficient now with everything at arms length in one area and moved towards a window with a view of the backyard trees.

I hope to have everything back in better order by the end of the month.  Knock on wood!

3.  Some other minor catastrophes happened too, but I am doing so much better than last year!  I'm so thankful to avoid "hoarder debt" or maybe it's more like "hoarder karma".  More on that next time, if I remember.  Also, Etsy has gotten a lot busier with sales since January too.  More about that below.

What are your healthiest options to deal with crisis stress?  I'm still in survival mode, meaning I'm still very indecisive, hence no blogging because I could not decide on which story to write about.  I still manage to function with foggy brain with a wandering lost feeling that comes and goes with little panic attacks, but I have been able to add my self care routine back.

Little by little, next I hope to return to daily yoga and walks.  My biggest hope is that my daily and nightly meditation routine will make my mind stronger and I'll be better able to manage my family stress.

I am still new listing weekly on most of the shops, although I'm doing so more slowly due to our weekly average sales going up.  Yipee.  We usually have about 8 orders each shipping day, but it seems to be holding steady at 10 to 12 packages.

I've had to lower my goal of 180 items per shop to 170 items listed on each shop, so I don't stress myself out in that area too.  I am happy and thankful to say so many items are finding new lives and homes daily!

I thought sales went up due to Valentine's day, but sales keep on coming, so I hope it holds through Easter and Mother's day. Since the beginning, I've always experimented with ideas that come to mind with my shops and I've started a new experiment that I call, "Kindful Profits."  I've tried 4-5 different times already with two success stories, hope to explain more in an upcoming post.
