Large Taxco Sterling Jerusalem Crusader Cross & Large Pure Silver Mexican Cross: The Destiny of Things, Story 504

Large Taxco Sterling Jerusalem Crusader Cross & Large Pure Silver Mexican Cross:  The Destiny of Things, Story 504

I am so thankful that someone sees beauty in my hoard!  And ordered two crosses!

This Jerusalem Crusader cross has sold out, but I have more crosses and crucifixes here
We have 4 Etsy shops and all of them carry my cross collection from the 80s.

Here is the note I received:

I forgot to ask for a discount haha. I love this piece 😀 thank you for hoarding 😀

I thought it was so funny to be thanked for hoarding!  What a great perspective and silver lining to my hoard!  Love his point of view!  Thank you!  And we also gave him the discount he asked for too!

Here is what I wrote back:

Good morning!

Thank you so much for your order. We'll see what we can do. Thank you for the thank you, it made us laugh!

What will you be doing with the pieces, if I may ask. I am collecting these stories, instead of more things for my Hoarder Rehab and The Destiny of Things blog.

Kind regards and thank you again!

And then he wrote back:

I love beautiful things and I like them around me so I wear them 😀😀😀  I’m kind of a minor hoarder myself. More of a hunter, really (a hoarder with justifications)

Hahaha!  This guy is so funny!  Don't get me started on justifications for hoarding because I used to have a million of them!  Now that I feel as though I'm healed from hoarding, I don't need those justifications or excuses anymore!  Yipee!

I would love to see how he's wearing these though.  I always thought I'd wear the ornate Jerusalem Crusader cross on a leather shoe string, that's how we wore jewelry in college during our punker days.  The pure silver dangle cross, I have some sterling milagros some where still in my hoard and I was going to add them to cross.  I also have a huge milagro collection, but for some reason I can't let that go yet!  Probably because back in the 80s, they were difficult to find.

Saying Goodbye:  These took a long time to sell, but as a recovering hoarder, time is on my side, lol.  It was perfect timing that they found a new life and home last month because if they had sold any time earlier, I think I might have had a twinge of seller regret!

Which is odd for my conflicted recovering hoarder mind because I'm allergic to sterling silver.  Well, I may not be anymore, but I'm so used to not wearing jewelry that any jewelry just feels so heavy now that I just don't bother with it.

What I Learned:

1.  I don't need to hold my conflicted recovering hoarder thinking anymore!  I don't need it and it doesn't work for me anymore, however I've lived with it for so long I need some time, patience and gentleness with myself to undo that thinking, which is like deleting an application over and over from my hard drive that I think I'm going to need one day!  or just keep canceling out the old thinking every time it returns, like a very bad habit.

It's not always easy to catch myself, but it does get easier and I feel stronger by the day!

2.  Now that my sciatica has healed, I've returned to organizing my Pandora's box, which is all over the living room, which was from trying to find some childhood art work from a cousin that started in the hoarded up room!  What a mess!  However, I've emptied over 20 file sized boxes and organized all my art and craft supplies.

3.  Organizing all my art and craft supplies was very insightful because I have over 2 lifetimes of projects now organized!  And I'm not even sure if I'm going to pursue art when I have room and time to make it now.  Crazy!

I'm not sure what is in store for me after my hoard is gone, but I don't think it's going to be art for some reason.  Yet I can't think of anything else I want to do either!

4.  Since reading all the books I've mentioned in my last post, doing yoga sporadically and meditating twice daily, my health has improved 80% and I feel like I'm almost well from every ailment I ever had!  Except for one, which is insomnia which I've had since childhood, so today was the first day I got up at 3 am to see if I'll just knock out at the end of the day.  I've tried this before, but I don't remember what happened, except that I got a lot done!

Thank you Etsy buyer from The Destiny of Things for taking the time to thank me for my hoarding!  It really made my day and gave me a more positive point of view than I usually think of myself.

I'm still feeling I need to let go of everything and start all over, just not sure how to accomplish that right now.  I think I'll be able to donate a lot more, instead of listing it on Etsy, especially my clothes!  I have so much clothes, hoards of clothes I don't even wear anymore, like my teaching clothes.  It's very difficult for me to sell my clothes on Etsy because not many people are my size, so at least maybe I'll be able to donate it all.

Everyday is such an adventure dehoarding on Etsy!   I never know who I'll meet and I have met so many Etsy buyers who share their stories with me and every time I glean some insight about where my dehoarding journey is taking me.

Due to my sciatica, I can't sit on a standard chair or sit in a car, so I mostly stand or I don't know why but I can sit down on my bed just fine!  Anyone out there know how that can be?  Tomorrow, when I get up at 3 am again, I'm going to try sitting on the floor because I tried several different chairs, couch, reclining lounge chair, etc this morning and started to feel numb from my sciatica down to the back of my knee up to the back of my ear.  Thankfully gentle yoga and mediation took it all away!

On all the shops, I've finished changing each listing from the last holiday to the next and it did take a lot of time, like an entire week and now I need to change it all again to the next holiday, Father's day.  Also, I see they took of Graduation or added it to occasions or something.  I noticed that Etsy is changing it's categories to be more detailed and specific, but as they have done that, it also seems that they have taken away many of the holiday choices.

For example, under the jewelry category, if I use the more specific categories, like stacking rings, the only holidays to choose from that were upcoming were either Cinco de Mayo or Independence day.  If I wanted to use Mother's day for a holiday, I had to use the most general category of just "jewelry."

So I am trying that on all the shops!  which is "daring" for me because I feel like I'm going against the stream and definitely won't be winning any popularity contests!  And who knows if I'm short cutting myself out of any Mother's day sales!  Only time will tell.

Thank you Etsy for the best Hoarder Rehab ever!  And for all the kind people I'm meeting who are helping me indirectly and directly in so many ways with my Hoarder Rehab!

Only the red glass hearts have a tiny cross etched on them, which is a detail I fell in love with!  One heart bead is missing, but I found some or you could add another medal instead.

We had a birthday and other things to celebrate over here, so we haven't been taking listing photos on the weekends.  My goal is back to 170 items per shop!  I am happy and thankful to say so many items are finding new lives and homes daily!

Sales are up and down, but mostly up, so I am grateful.  Lots of photos of new items will need to be taken this weekend!

Click on the shop names to visit new hoard listed daily and/or weekly: HoarderRehab with 165 items, The Destiny of Things- 164 items, VintageToGoEasy - 172 items and JunkDrawerAndMore - 166 items.

Maybe you'll find something and give it new life and a new home!  Thanks for looking!

I have found several of these in my hoard, but they were all Miraculous Mary cut outs, this is the only one I've seen that has both Mary and Jesus.
